OCC: So, I know I already have an application for him, but I decided to write another just for the sake of all his changes and his coming back to Alagaesia. And also for the benefit of myself in getting back into the whole Argetlam thing.

Character's Name: Lathem
Character's Age: 19
Character's Attitude: Sweet, caring, and passionate. With a wife and an almost-child, Lathem is in love with life; he has everything he's ever wanted. He loves his wife and unborn child with all of his being and would lay his life down for them in an instant. His passion for fairness is exuberant. He fights for what is right, no matter the cost.
Character's Race: Human
Character's Appearance:
Character's Allegiance: Varden
Weapons: A hand-and-a-half sword with a black wiring hilt; a word from the ancient language was engraved in purple on the metal: Celöbra. Two black daggers on the back of his belt. Magic. Zamah.
Other Info: Married to Jeriah and father to their unborn child. Recently came back from a foreign land: Paonia.
History: Lathem was born and raised in Gil'ead by the governor, who happened to also be his father. His mother died during his birth and his father always seemed to blame him for it. He grew up abandoned by his role model and angry at the world.
When Lathem found Zamah's egg by the lake of Isenstar, his whole life changed. His love for Zamah changed the anger and hate inside him, and instead of hating the world, he began to hate Galbatorix. He secretly began to donate money to orphanages and sabotaged Empire camps. Eventually he and Zamah ran away to live in the Spine away from Galbatorix and his father and everyone trying to hurt him. He met his first and last love, Jeriah, and her dragon Oranthor and began their long journey of love.
Including a time of insanity and his marriage to Jeriah, he felt like their life in Alagaesia needed to come to and end. Jeriah was pledged to the Varden, but the call from a secret crystal on the island of Eoam and his gentle tug of her hand, she agreed to travel away from Alagaesia to see where the wind took them.
In Paonia, the land that they found and settled in, Lathem's love for Jeriah and Zamah and Oranthor grew to the point where just being away from them for a day was painful. The love in that family changed Lathem into a new person. When he learned that Jeriah was pregnant, he began to accept that his life was good. It all changed the day that he woke up without Jeriah next to him.
Role-Play Sample: The sound of breathing welcomed Lathem as he awoke from his slumber. Sunlight streamed into his and Jeriah's hut and through his eyes, he could see all the blood vessels of his eyelids. After a moment, the breathing stopped and he realized it was his own. His eyes snapped open and he sat straight up, his hand shooting to the other side of where he slept. Nothing. Air. Not even her imprint in the blankets.
"Jeriah?"
His voice broke the silence as his breathing started again and he pushed himself up from the bed, a thought creeping at the edge of his mind. He grabbed a shirt and pulled it over his head, then grabbed his belt with his daggers attached and fastened it around his waist. Last of all, he grabbed his sword, the worn sheath soft to his touch.
"Jeriah?"
He pushed past the blanket hanging from the doorway and squinted as the fullness of the sun enveloped him, the wind flustered his hair, and the burn of the heat drop upon his skin. As his eyes adjusted to the brightness, all Lathem could see was a wall of purple.
Zamah, where is Jeriah?
He swung his head from side to side, looking for the familiar orange wall so similar to Zamah.
Zamah, where is Oranthor?
The silence of Zamah made him look up into his dragon's face. Heat crept across his arms and prickled his skin underneath his shirt, making him shift uncomfortably. Zamah's eyes penetrated his being and slowly, the sound of Lathem's breathing left his ears again. In a small voice, Lathem said the name of his love once more.
"Jeriah."
