"Attention!" the bulletin read in thick, black letter. "It has come to the attention of the Administration that there has been a student spreading the vilest kinds of rumors concerning some the elites within the school. If anyone has any information concerning the matter, please contact your over-seeing Administrator."
Salian chortled, glancing around at the masses of students clogging the hallway. As if anyone really cares if the celebrities are slammed. But what would I know? I'm just an underpaid teacher. He grinned, wading his way through the masses to the teachers' lounge. He was on break this hour, and intended to take full advantage of it.

Melodine clutched her book bag to her chest with a kind of desperation. She hated gossip. Especially when she was at the center of it. She never considered herself particularly special, but apparently this gossip did, whoever they were. She'd already heard many nasty rumors about how she was going out with the most popular boy in school, one of the Dragon Riders, which she'd tried to protest against. But nobody believed her. She had then gone to the bathroom and cried.
Why was it that I'm so bold in everything except when it comes to defending my reputation? she wondered miserably, sinking into her desk. As soon as her bag hit the floor, a flare of whispers sprung up around her, making her cringe inside. It was going to be a long hour. Somebody save me! she pleaded to the heavens before resigning herself to counting down the time on the big clock by the teacher's desk.
