Character's name: Jeriah
Character's age: 19 (35)
Character's attitude: Jeriah is a sweet, loving woman and a proud Rider, as well as an adoring and devoted wife. She loves her country with a fierce loyalty and would do anything to see that the Varden wins the war. Despite this, she cares more deeply about her unborn child, and for that reason has decided to leave Alagaesia for a while, because she senses that if she currently stays, the child will be in danger.
Over the years since the end of the war, numerous tragedies have befallen her; in spite of this, she continues to retain a positive nature and a strong outlook on life. However, there is always a distinct air of sadness around her.
Character's race: human
Character's appearance: Jeriah is around 5'9" and is a tall, well-developed woman. Her hair is naturally a dark blonde, but appears to have been sun-bleached much lighter. Her eyes are sky blue with amber flecks in them. She'll wear whatever the occasion calls for; be it the simple cotton dress of the farm girl she used to be, the armor of the warrior she has become, or the attire more suited to a spy.
(This is her in her armor, though the color should be orange instead of blue)
Character's allegiance: Varden, but more importantly, her family.
Weapons: Her trusty old bow. An orange Rider's sword named Ilian, which is literally always at her side, no matter what.
Other info: Jeriah has the ability to sense things around her, a keen perception that is uncannily accurate.
History: Jeriah grew up a farm girl on the plains, living a surprisingly normal life. She and her brother and sister always had to work and, though her parents love her very much, they never really had much time for her.
Once, when she was 13, while searching for a lost sheep, she wandered into a clump of trees. Behind her she heard a cracking noise. She turned and, hatching there, was an orange dragon. She touched it and recieved a Gedwey Ignasia. She took the dragon home and there, for a year, it grew into a large dragon upon whom she could ride and speak with. Jeriah then left the farm to explore the world beyond with her dragon, Oranthor.
While exploring the Spine, Jeriah met the man who would become her soul mate, her best friend, and her husband. She fell in love with Lathem quickly and almost childishly, despite Oranthor's warnings. Then one night, Lathem left without any sort of explanation, leaving Jeriah confused and understandably hurt. Her pain only increased when she found out that he had joined the Empire as Galbatorix's servant, having appeared to have gone mad.
Devestated and heart-broken, Jeriah could think of only one thing to do. She found the Varden and begged to join their ranks. They were astonished by this, but they accepted her. They warned her that the life she had chosen would be hard, but she accepted it, believing that it would be the only way she could save Lathem.
Jeriah eventually found Lathem again, near the Beor mountains. He was half-mad, not knowing who he was or recognizing her. Despite this, Jeriah refused to lose hope, and he soon regained his memory. Not long after, he asked her to marry him, to which she said yes. They would have been perfectly happy, were it not for the fact that Lathem had sworn his life to Galbatorix. Jeriah then came up with a plan to save him.
She let herself be captured by the Empire and, once she was standing before Galbatorix himself, she demanded he free Lathem. She received her wish, at the cost of her own life. Beyond the void of death, Jeriah found that there was, indeed, an afterlife. There she met Brom and Saphira, who spoke with her. After a little while, Jeriah found herself pulled back into life.
But she was given a gift by Saphira and Morzan's dragon, which gave her an uncanny perspective of the things around her.
So Jeriah is now alive and well, though she still bears the scars from her torture. Since Lathem was freed and Jeriah was alive, they were able to marry peacefully.
Soon after they were married, they and their dragons set off travelling to a distant land, where they remained for a while. During this time, Jeriah became pregnant, and was very happy about that.
Recently, though, she felt a calling toward her homeland. So she left one night and returned to Alagaesia, where she rejoined the Varden just in time to participate in a battle, the largest clash between the Empire and the Varden since the dragon eggs were found. She and Oranthor both survived the battle, and went about missions for the Varden. But not long after, Jeriah had a premonition that her child would be in danger if she remained in Alagaesia. So she left to hide for a while...
As the years passed, uncounted tragedies have befallen her. She has neither seen nor heard from either her husband or his dragon, and she can only hope that they are alive but fear that they are not. Her child turned out to be twins, but the boy, Satoru, fell ill to a fever and died when he was less than a year old. Lastly, her dragon, Oranthor, was killed by a dragon slayer, though he did not destroy his Heart of Hearts.
Despite all the tragedy, Jeriah has managed to remain strong and resolute, living almost entirely for her daughter Sakura. She'd decided to live in Bromsland as one of their primary magic instructors, being one of the most competent and creative teachers in the art. There is nothing she wouldn't do to help her students, but everyone who spends any amount of time with her will notice the constant air of melancholy that surrounds her, and her once-vibrant eyes now always seem on the edge of tears.

Role play sample:
Jeriah woke in the middle of the night, sweating and shaken. She had just had the most awful nightmare, very dark and involved a lot of blood and screams. It was a battle, she knew. As she forced herself to relax, she reach across the bed to Lathem, who was sleeping peacefully. Smiling, she touched his face gently, brushing his lips with hers. He slept like a rock. A lovely, heart-warming rock.
She lay back, suddenly feeling a headache. She glanced out the window to the west. There, across the vast sea, lay Alagaesia. Though it had felt right at the time, Jeriah had slowly started feeling regret for leaving her land. The Varden needed her. Her people needed her. She'd come to feel this more and more over the past month.
Oranthor? she asked. He raised his head to look at her through the window.
I feel it too, small one, he told her. Without another word, Jeriah got up from the bed and found paper and a pen, and she wrote a small note.
Dearest Lathem,
I'm sorry I didn't wake you. You look just so peaceful...Oranthor and I both feel an urgent need to return home, just as quickly as possible. Something is about the happen, and the Varden need us. Know that I love you more than anything in this world, Lathem, and that I will see you soon.
All my heart, filled with my love,
Jeriah
