One: Is it possible to partake in more than one role play at a time? Two: Is there a limit on how much time passes, due to the seasons and ages? Three: How does battling work here? Just a normal role play, or...? And, finally, for now: Are weapons and shields bought, or do we simply start with what we gave ourselves in our histories?

Hey, welcome to the site. I would have greeted you sooner, but I've been having the most awful day ever. Hopefully it'll get better, but anyway, glad you're here. 1. Yes, it is possible to be in more than one thread at a time. Generally we play them as a timeline where some thread occur before or after others. 2. There's not really a limit to how much time has passed, but it can often get really confusing. I actually have one character who has aged three years whereas everyone else is still the same. I went and made a system to be able to tell if we're doing something in the distant future/past. Basically, you would put the time in the name of the thread, like +2y would be two years in the future and -5m would be five months in the past, etc. 3. Battles are written just like everything else. We have a few constraints, like you can't actually say you hit your opponent, but you can make your intent clear and give the other person a chance to react. At the same time, try to be realistic and let your own character take a few hits. A few of our older threads have some really great battles in them if you want to wade through them to get the gist of it. 4. Normally we start with what we gave ourselves in our histories. We can get new weapons as time goes by, and we can say things like our weapons got damaged or lost. Then you can obtain a new one however you want, really. Hope that answered your questions. Again, welcome.

Alright. Thank you, Tismri. I suppose I should also ask how learning the Ancient Language works, but I suppose that would happen through role playing too.

I was accepted earlier today, and cannot find the server IP. This is probably a dumb question... Where is it or what is it?

this Forum is hosted by Proboards. if you are getting the Angry Bear when trying to view this page some times. thats normal its a problem on their end probably too many people using their service at the same time or their sever is down. As far as A server IP well you don't need it to Role play on this forum because you have access to it.
Basically a server is sorta like a computer but it has heaps more memory because it has multiple hard disks and allows multiple people access the information stored on it at the same time. All Websites on the internet are stored on Servers basically Proboards has its own servers that it stores all the Forums that people create including this one. So what happens is your computer stores the Server IP address in its memory to access the information stored on it. Its like a Web address or a home address. Basically all Devices that can access the internet have an IP address like wireless modems (or some other sort of address mac address...) um i hope i explained that right.(theres always google) basically nothing you need to worry about. feel free to ask any other questions, anything more Role Play specific one of the mods may have to answer.
