Character's name: Katriana Tamor
Character's age: 20 (36)
Character's attitude: Kat is generally a kind woman, though due to her position as a noble she tends to think down on some people. She is precise and deadly when she has to be. She is fiercely loyal to her king and will give up her life for him in an instant.
(As a Shade, Katriana's personality is essentially the same, though much more manipulative and forceful. Little quirks have been added to her personality, such as drinking the blood of her enemies from silver cups. Any kindness she displays are more often than not a facade, a ploy to get what she wants.)
Character's Race: human
Character's appearance:
Kat has long blonde hair that is half-braided, and she is always wearing a circlet made of silver and set with moonstones. Her eyes are a golden color and framed around with purple tattoos. She'll wear normal clothes when she is at home, but her battle gear consists of a set of ebony armor that has been cursed in her opinion. She would part from it, but for the fact that it was a gift.
As a Shade, Kat discards her armor, relinquishing all connection to her family as she considers them traitors. She wears fine, light armor, with a thin cloak that fastens with an elaborate collar around her throat. Her face is a bit more gaunt, her hair a slightly different shade. Her eyes glow like fire, and her lips are stained bloodred.
Character's allegiance: Her whole family has been sworn to the service of Galbatorix.
(Her family quickly turned their devotion to Nasuada after the war. Katriana felt betrayed; her personal loyalty will eternally belong to Galbatorix, and it is out of vengeance for him that she has formed her own army.)
Weapons: Anything that can be wielded with just one hand, either blunt or blade. She has a set of dagger, sword, axe, and mace made of ebony to match her armor. She has trouble with two-handed weapons, though, and feels much better protected with her shield instead. She also cannot aim a bow to save her life.
Other Info: Kat has blood running through her veins from all over the place, from the Ayati tribes to Ismalia. She visited her Ayati relatives once as a child, and because her family were high nobles of Alagaesia, they gifted her with her tattooes around her eyes.
(Katriana is now the leader of the rebellion forming in the Haddarac Desert, and is a Shade who is bonded to a dragon.)
History: The Tamor family has long been nobles in Alagaesia, since even before Galbatorix's rise to power. They have been highly respected in the land, though a few look down upon them for intermarrying with foriegners and barbarians. They were a family of politics and ambition. Though they had initially opposed Galbatorix, and Kat's great-uncle had been a Rider who was slain by the Forsworn, they were eventually subdued by him and forced to swear their allience to him in the ancient language.
When Katriana was born, Galbatorix made them swear to give the child to his service when she came of age, and in the time until then to train her in the arts of fighting. Thus, Kat was raised to be a fighter, and she supports Galbatorix's rule, though only because she was told to all her life. Her training has included assassination and dragon slaying.
When she was about ten years old, she was sent to spend a few months with the Ayati tribe, partly to get to know her relatives better and partly for training. Due to her high position in Alagaesia, she was granted with facial markings the day before she left to return home.
The day she turned sixteen, Kat was sent to Uru'baen, to officially serve Galbatorix however he saw fit. As a parting gift, her family commissioned for her a set of perfect ebony armor with various weapons to match. They didn't know it at the time, but a sorceror had gotten ahold of the armor and enchanted it so that whenever Kat was in battle, it would leak out a poison that would rapidly kill anyone who got too close. While this is useful when she is alone and outnumbered, Kat hates the armor because it a close comrade of hers died because of it.
Katriana now serves as a member of Galbatorix's personal guard. She treats everyone with respect, though she has occasionally gotten close to having a row with Vana. She is sworn to protect the king with her life and will see to it that nothing ever threatens him.
(After Galbatorix's death and defeat, Kat went into hiding with her dragon, Vanilor. She quickly became despondant, deprived of her king and the only man whom she ever loved. She wandered meaninglessly for a while, searching for purpose.
Shortly after, through circumstances still unknown to most, Katriana became indwelt by spirits, forming her into a powerful Shade. Because of her bond with Vanilor, she was strong enough to dominate the spirits and keep ahold of her own identity, although they still influence many things about her. The newly formed Shade Rider went on a rampage after her birth, slaughtering villages before sense returned to her. Rationality began to tell her that even one with her powers would be unable to fight back against Eragon and his new Riders, along with the whole of Alagaesia and their allies. She needed followers of her own, people to believe in her cause. For that, she needed a cause of people to rally behind.
While exploring the Beors, she came across a nearly dead elf, severely injured by Fanghurs. She nearly passed him by, not even giving him a glance until he begged for her to save him. She paused and considered. He seemed in earnest; he could prove a powerful servant to her. So she healed him, and soon after he declared undying loyalty to her and has faithfully stayed by her side, unknown to everyone for the past sixteen years. Next, nearly a decade after finding Lycus, Katriana next found a wild, bloodthirsty little girl in the Spine. Sachiko's feeble attempts to attack her greatly amused her, and Kat decided that she might be useful to have; the girl has since proven a very willing tool for her. Since that day, Katriana has succeeded in gathering more and more allies around her, and now she is nearly ready to begin her march upon Alagaesia, ready to lay the land to waste and begin a new rule in Galbatorix's mighty name.
Role Play Sample:
Kat sauntered down the hall with a grace born only of arrogant aristocrats, magicians, and cats. She held her shield tightly and kept her head high, her eyes forward as she approached the throne room door, which she opened without hesitation.
As she entered, her golden eyes swept over the room, seeking out any potential threats. She saw them everywhere, but no more than there were every day. She would have to keep her eyes on all of it. As she gazed around, her stride never broke as she took her usual place at the front right corner of the dias upon which Galbatorix's throne sat. She would have to be extra careful today, she knew. Certain strangers were likely to visit today, and she felt certain they were going to try something to attempt killing her king. It was her job to make sure they never even had the chance.
