Character's name: Elaine
Character's age: 20
Character's attitude: Friendly and peaceful. She doesn't like to argue, but will fight for something she's passionate about. Loyal, smart, and tough. She always tries to abide by rules of honor, for without it, people become no better than criminals and vagabonds.
Character's Race: Human
Character's Home: Aberon
Character's appearance: Long, sleek brown hair, big round brown eyes, small, slender nose, and lips that always seem to hint at a smile. Her body is small, yet strong and fast. She usually wears tunics, leggings, and boots, but secretly enjoys slipping into a dress now and then.
Character's allegiance: Dragon RIders
Weapons: Rapier, bow, and throwing daggers. Eventually, she will travel to Ellesmera, where the forge master Rhunon will make her a rider's sword in a similar fashion as Eragon's was made. When the process is complete, Elaine will have a light, slim blade with an extravagant hilt and crossguard. It is a cross between longsword and rapier. The blade is a stormy gray, like Eridor's scales. Elaine names the weapon Celobra, and the glyph is cast on the center of the blade on both sides.
Other Info: Dislikes criminals, they killed her parents, but I'll get to that later.
History: Elaine was born into a semi wealthy family, and had a happy life for about five years. She was doted on, cherished, and loved greatly. Her world, or the one she had known thusfar, was shattered on a rainy night when she was five. A thief broke into her parents house and ransacked the place. Her parents tried to stop the man, but that only made him angry. The man slaughtered Elaine's parents. Elaine herself had been hiding in a corner, in shadow. She was discovered the next morning by soldiers, alone and cold with a tearstained face, her chubby hand gripping her fathers rapier that had been lying beside his bloody body. Elaine was then sent to an orphanage which had seen better times. She kept her fathers rapier. The orphanage was small, and the other children were mean to her. The food could have been better. Time passed in a blur, everything moving on in the same pattern and routine. One sunny day, when she was 17, she was walking the streets of Aberon, browsing the hawkers wares and goods. A shout caught her attention, and she looked up to find a man being pursued by palace guards. Filthy criminal, she thought. As the man drew near, she nimbly stepped in front of him and unsheathed her sword, causing him to stop abruptly lest he impale himself on the weapon. A smile curved her lips. "Not today, thief." The man gave her a furious glare, then threw something into the air. The object shimmired in the sunlight like glass, and Elaine let out a gasp. She turned away from the theif in order to catch the object, which she could now see was egg shaped and dark grey. Her efforts were not in vain. The valuable object landed smoothly in her arms, much lighter than she expected. When she turned back to the thief, he was gone. The palace guards finally reached her, gasping and looking frantic. "Miss, did you see which way that man went?" Elaine gave them an apologetic look. "I'm very sorry, but no." Their faces fell, and they began to turn away. "However I managed to get this from him, I believe it is what you were trying to retrieve." She proffered the dark grey stone. The guards faces lit with evident joy and relief. One of them very gently took the stone from the hands. Elaine suddenly felt bereft and alone with the stone gone. The guards converesed with each other quietly, then turned to her. "Miss, we would be honered if you came back to the palace with us. We think there is someone there who would like to meet you." Elaine thought for a moment, bewildered. The orphanage wasn't expecting her back until late that night. "Alright, I would be extremely honered to accompany you to the palace." Elaine was seventeen then. Then ensued the years of growth, struggle, and war that concluded the war with the empire.
After the war, Elaine took it upon herself to build a large, grand shelter for orphaned children. Having been an orphan herself, she decided the one thing she could do to help after the war would be to take in orphaned children and give them a place to grow and have a chance to become a person of respect. At the shelter, Elaine has brought in a few good characters to help rear the numerous children, and the rule of the shelter is to always practice honor, good moral code, and respect for themselves and one another. The children, most of them, come out of her orphanage well mannered and full of good grace. After sixteen years, Elaine has been asked to go to Ismalia to bring tidings of the new danger in Alagaesia to the Queen Mother, Tenal Ka.
Role Play Sample: Elaine looked at her reflection in a gilded mirror. I can't believe I'm inside the palace, about to eat dinner with some of the important people, maybe even the King himself. Taking a deep breath, she stepped out of the lady's room and turned to the guard. "Thank you, I think I'm ready now." The guard gave her a big smile, "wonderful, right this way." He led her through a myriad of halls and doors, then finally stepped into a large dining hall. A large table was set up in the middle of the room, six chairs around it. A lush carpet lay underneath the tables elegant legs, and tapestries hung delicately from the walls. She could see that a man already seated at the table. As she walked in, he regarded her with intellegent and calulating eyes. As she approached the table, the man stood and bowed. "Greetins, miss. I am William Kel, a general of the varden. I have heard of your great deed and would be honered if you sat and had dinner with me." Elaine flushed, then returned the bow awkwardly. "Of course, but I believe I would be the one who is honered to eat with you." The general threw back his head and released a booming laugh that seemed to come from the depths of his soul. Elaine like it. "Well miss, you certainly are a charmer." And so they made small talk while they ate their dinner, which consisted of a very delicious stew. When they were finished, the general motioned to a guard. The guard marched over to him and handed him something Elaine couldn't quite see. When the general turned back to her, she saw that he held the dark grey stone she had salvaged from the thief. William surprisingly held it out to her. "Elaine, I would like you to take this." Elaine was shocked, "Oh, sir, I couldn't. It's so beatiful and I'm just an orphan. It doesn't belong to the likes of me." The general scoffed. "Well then, at least stay here for the night. It is late after all." Elaine could hardly argue with that, so a messenger was sent to her occupancy telling them where she was. They'll be surprised, she thought smugly. The general showed her to her room, and before she went inside, he gave her the grey stone before she could protest. "Just keep it with you for now. It would make me feel better." Finding this odd, Elaine reluctantly agreed. The general bowed and departed, leaving Elaine alone with the stone. She plopped onto the wonderful bed, luxuriously soft and plush. She managed to kick off her boots and pull the covers over her body before falling asleep, the stone held close to her chest, embraced in her arms...
Dragon Info: Obviously, the dark grey stone is indeed a dragon egg. Inside is a male dragon which Elaine will end up naming Eridor. Eridor will have a protective nature of Elaine, and he will be a fiersome fighter. He is honerable, intellegent, and also dislikes criminals, such as Galabotorix and the other unholy riders of the evil king.
