Delenn walked into her home slowly, concentrating on the sound of the ocean waves. Each resounding crash resonated within her very soul. She wanted to dance to the rhythm of the song that the sea played, and wanted to sing with it. Then another sound reached her sensitive ears, the sound of her mother crying. "Oh, Kyle," she was saying, talking with Delenn's father, "I don't want to leave. I've lived in Narda my whole life. So have you! We don't know what lies south. If we go, we'll be without family and friend." "I know, Carolyn, I know, but we can't stay here. There is too much danger to Delenn. We both know she is no ordinary child. Even if her ears weren't pointed and her eyes weren't slanted, there is an aura about her that's not...human. If Galbatorix hears about her, our daughter's life will be in danger." Silence for a few moments, except for Carolyn's sniffling, and then "I don't want to leave. But I couldn't bear to lose another child, especially one as special as Delenn. But how will we get there?" "I have a plan, dearest, but you will have to trust me." By then, Delenn came into veiw of the two of them. The elf child laid a hand gently on her adoptive mother's shoulder. "It will be all right, Mother," she said quietly, "Trusting Father will be the best thing for us. He'll take care of us." Carolyn nodded and tried to dry her tears. Delenn gave her parents a hug, then left the house again, walking to the shore again.

Salty sea air wafted around Tanner as he stood on the beach in Teirm. His eyes were watering from the exposure to the water and his hair flung every which way about him. Throughout all this, he was smiling. He could feel a part of his soul out in the ocean, drifting in and out of the waves. He slowly made his way to sitting down, then closed his eyes, enveloping his mind in darkness. Colors moved about behind his eyelids and his thoughts moved constantly. Tanner finally brought it all to a halt and reached out with his mind, touching the sea's consciousness and the creatures inside the sea's consciousness's as well. Reaching out as far as he could, he touched a mind that made him shiver. It held great intelligence, while being innocent as daylight. It felt like an ancient mind in a little body, but the barriers around it made it impossible to get in. A singsong voice seemed to be coming from within it, a strange tune that made Tanner's mind fuzzy, making him want to walk forever until he found the host of this alien mind. Tanner waited with a prodding finger touching the mind, wondering if it would respond.
OCC: Supposedly, that mind is Delenn's...

OOC: so...Tanner is reaching her in Narda all the way from Teirm? That's a long way. lol!
Delenn sat on the seashore, watching the waves roll in. Each resounding crash upon the sand was like the precussion in a symphony. The air set her senses afire, and the entire world was perfect in this ocean paradise. Yet she knew all was not well in the world. People didn't speak of it around her, but she knew there was a war in the world, a war with impossible odds. She hoped with all her might that the impossible may, indeed, be possible. She felt another mind brush against hers, lightly, trying to get in for a second. She considered for a moment who it might be. No one she knew. No one in Narda knew how to touch her mind as she could touch theirs sometimes. Cautiously, letting only her voice escape through the barriers, she grasped hold of the other one, like taking hold of another's hand. Who are you? The question echoed through the link she allowed.

OCC: Yeah, well, I was bored and had to because I want to use Tanner.
Tanner flinched at the alien presence grasping his mind like gentle toy. Tanner Jhiko. Who, and what, are you?

Delenn felt the other's flinch, smiling gently. My name is Delenn...I believe I am an elf...as for who I am, I have yet to truly learn the answer to that question myself.

Tanner smiled mentally. Aye, I understand your predicament, elf-friend. I am an elf myself...though I was raised in the way of the humans.

Delenn's eyebrows raised slightly when he told her that. A gentle smile came on her face. Then you an I have much in common, it seems. Except my problem is that I do not remember anything about being an elf...I remember nothing of my life before arriving in Narda except my name and... An image flashed through her mind, one that made her shudder, though even that movement had an accentuated grace to it. Watching two older elves die at the hands of some frightening humans, their blood pouring out. This is why I say I do not know who I am.

Tanner almost snapped away from her consciousness as the images flashed across her mind. His heart fluttered for a moment, stopping, then started again, pushing blood throughout Tanner's body. He had no doubt she could feel his fear. We are of the same...I know not of anything. I remember growing up a human and just recently found out I am an elf. All I have is the memory of two elves getting mutilated and killed, as your memory shows. It is odd...it is like we were meant to meet.

Delenn felt Tanner's fear, and was a little afraid she had shown him too much. But his answer did not surprise her. Wyrda can be a strange thing, fricai, she told him gently. It is something we cannot control, but we accept as it comes to us. She stared at the sky for a minute, just thinking. I believe we shall meet in person some day... She heard her mother calling. Until then, I hope to speak to you again. Would you recognize my touch if I reached for you with my mind?

Tanner nodded mentally, then gently withdrew from her mind. A sudden idea wracked his brain and he smiled grimly. He had longed for adventure his whole life. This was his only chance. One more look at the sea and he turned to leave. "I shall come to you, Delenn. Even if it kills me."

OOC: Mrah.....I say...Well, how's about we put our pirates to use?
Delenn smiled gently and thanked Tanner for his promise, though I do not know how much longer I shall be in Narda. My adoptive parents desire to seek refuge with the Varden. Perhaps I shall contact you again when everything it safe. Her consciousness slowly slipped away into the general vicinity just in time to see a magnificent ship preparing to dock. The name upon the side said Aurora. She smiled at the pretty name, which meant "The Dawn." She stood and walked in the direction of the ship. Perhaps they would be willing to transport her family to Surda. Might as well see.
