Elaine nodded, then took her stance. She began a slow circle around the enemy rider, looking for any opening. Guilt rippled through her conscious. She felt dishonrable fighting an injured man. But this war, and such battles never had honor. They were just grim business. She calculated that his right side would be the best to attack. Stepping forward quickly, she thrust her blade at his right thigh. ~~~
Viel flew away from Góùréd, her white claws coated in his blood. She felt victorious at making the gold dragon retreat to the ground. As he spit fire at her, she dodged them with barrel rolls and quick loops. Once or twice the edge of the flame would scorch her scales. She flew above him in lazy circles, wondering what her next move would be. Her firey eyes scanned the battle, then came to rest on Einar and Stigandr. Ah, yes. I must distract that other rider and dragon to give Einar time to infiltrate the capital. Clasping her wings to her side with a powerful thrust, she shot towards the large gray dragon. He seemed oblivious to her approach, his eyes locked on the riders. Excellent. she thought, snaking out her tongue.
Vana flicked up Andlat, parrying Equinox's blow. She hated to cause Equinox such pain and anger, but there was no other choice. As she parried his blow, she brought her sword up around at his arm. At the same time, a bone chilling roar crashed across the air. She glanced up quickly, noticed that it was Góùréd who had cried out, and returned her attention to Equinox.
Viel altered her path slightly, now directing herself at the female rider. It would be much easier to dispose of her. While she died, so too would the gray beast. She was nearly half way to her target.

Góùréd waited on the ground, his body tensed for an attack. He was taken back for a second as Viel sped towards Eridor, and he jumped into the air, rushing towards her, his body straining with the effort. He flew as fast as he ever did, and snapped his teeth aiming to bite Viel's tail, trying to bring her down to the ground.
Equinox's blade clanged off of Vana's as she parried his blow. He took two quick steps back, watching for her move, then moved in once again, as she turned to watch Góùréd. He feinted left, then aimed a deep thrust at her left thigh, which would hinder her greatly in the fight if it struck, but it was not a life threatening wound. He still thought to capture her, and not to kill her.

The moment Vana had looked into the sky was a mistake. As her eyes fell back down to Equinox, the gold riders sword was already impaling her thigh, even though she wore armor. Such weapons as that could cut through anything. Gasping pain, she instinctively clutched at her bloody wound. Her leg throbbed with pain, and it was an effort to remain on her feet. A sudden pain erupted at the end of her spine as Góùréd clamped down on Viels tail. The shock of that pain sent her to her knees. Don't be so weak! she shouted at herself. With a cry of pain, Vana heaved herself up and took an unsteady, defensive stance against Equinox. She ignored the blood trailing down her leg. With a throaty shout, she lunged at Equinox, blade aimed for his sword arm.
Viel roared in shock and pain as her flight was suddenly brought to a halt. She twisted her neck around and found Góùréd pulling back on her tail. Snarls ripped from her throat as she tried to pull free, her wings pumping furiously. But Góùréd was as big as she was, if not a little bigger. He was too strong for her to pull away. Changing tactics, Viel looped herself under the gold dragon. He would have to let go now, unless he wanted another stomach injury.

Einar watched the Rider's movement carefully. He predicted that she would attack his vulnerable side; his right side. Luckily for him, he had trained hard to master the sword on either hand to defend any part of his body, no matter which hand he used. The only problem was that it required a lot of flexibility, which meant a lot of energy; energy that was nearly diminished at this point in the battle. If not for his half elven blood, he was sure that he would have died by now or unable to move his body at all.
Pushing his thoughts aside as the Rider attacked his right as predicted, Einar pivoted his right foot, placed the weight on it, and spun his body to block the attack with his left sword. The two swords collided into the ground. Einar couldn't help but smile at the position of the rider's attack. "Good." He breathlessly told her. "but will it be enough?" Gathering his energy, he twisted his body quickly so that he was able to climb onto the locked swords' flat sides, rotate his hips to the left, and set himself for a roundhouse kick at the girl's head. As he rotated, his left hand twisted around its sword's pommel, using it as a leverage in case he lost his balance.

Elaine grimaced as Einar blocked her attack, and she wondered briefly what his motive was as he shoved the blades into the ground. Then, as he made his move, she was no longer unclear of his actions. Referring to her lessons of hand to hand combat, and also of the brief brawls she had witnessed during her life in the orphanage, Elaine brought her arms up before her face, taking the kick to her forearms. The blow, when it hit, staggered her, but she wasted no time in retaliating with a hand chop to his arm that kept his balance on the sword. Her aim was to hopefully break his arm at the wrist. Unfortunately, she doubted she had the strength to perform such a feat. From behind her, gutteral snarls tore from his throat, while his tail constantly switched back and forth. Eridor disliked such a close fight. He was also unaware of Góùréd locked in one on one combat with Viel.

Einar tsked as his kick was blocked. He was caught off guard with the hand chop to his left wrist so was unable to block sufficiently. With the combination of the blocked kick and the wrist, Einar tumbled down to his left side. He miraculously managed to do a side roll to avoid any further damage to his body. He got back up again, watching the rider again.
The pain in his wrist ached as he moved it to see how much damage the girl did. He wasn't able to move it at first due to the throbbing; he feared that she had broken it, but after a minute the pain subsided a bit.
I need my arms... He screamed at himself. When he was able to move his wrist, he grabbed onto his right bicep and pulled on it hard; therefore popping it back in. He clenched his teeth, trying to hold back a scream. All that managed to come out was a exasperated groan mixed in with a wince or two.
He still wasn't able to use his right arm, but now he didn't have to worry about any permanent damage. He still couldn't risk healing it, for he was nearly out of energy. He needed to end this fast, or expect his fate to be sealed in death. "No, I cannot die yet." His thoughts rested on his mother and how the Varden had her killed after he was born. I have yet to avenge you my mother. So I cannot DIE! With this renewed motivation, he was able to muster up his strength and face the rider. He quickly turned his attention back to the rider and gave her a half smile. "I will not die." He spoke out, but mostly to himself. He held up his left hand in front of him, motioning her to come at him.

Elaine backed up, giving the rider space. He seemed in obvious pain. End it now! Eridor roared at her. Biting her lip, she fought over what action to take.
No, I will not attack while he is otherwise distracted. That would be dis-honorable. Eridor huffed, but he did not argue. When it came to honorable deeds, Eridor usually excelled. Yet the heat of battle brought the worst out in most people, and dragons. He dug his talons into the rocky ground, gouging the earth in his agitation. Elaine ignored him while she waited for the rider to mend himself as best he could. She winced with him as his shoulder popped back into place. The pain must have been fierce.
At his words, Elaine approached slowly, rapier held aloft. He would not go down easily, as the rider had already proved, but his energy was lacking. As is mine, she thought with a frown. As she drew within striking range, Elaine lunged at his right side, then twisted sharply to his left. In the blink of an eye her sword was now aimed for his left.

Einar staggered forward to try to avoid the blow. His eyes quickly glanced at his sword that was still embedded in the ground and cursed at his recklessness.
He pulled out a dagger that was hidden behind his waist and was about to block the attack on his right, but she suddenly blurred to his left. If he was just a human rider, he knew he would not be able to track her movements, but alas, he was now weak so when he tried to block the attack that now headed for his left side, he was only able to deflect it slightly. He winced as the tip of her blade pierced his skin, but not enough to harm his vital organs.
He twisted his body, repositioning himself to knee her in the abdomen, as his left hand was preoccupied with keeping the sword at bay.

Equinox's face frowned as he saw the amount of blood trailing from Vana's wound. He was preoccupied with that, so when she attacked he could not avoid the blow she gave him. Instead he twisted, making her thrust avoid his sword arm, and having it impale his left one, slicing through the muscle, tearing a hole out of the other side. He yelled in pain, his face contorted, and used his legs as leverage to pull the sword from his wound and push away from her. He glared at her, his face in a scowl as his left arm hung loosely at its side, his right holding up his sword.
Góùréd gave a loud snarl as he teeth closed onto Vana's tail. Flames shot out of his nostrils as he pulled back, dragging her with him. He let go as she looped underneath him, her blood falling from his maw. He backed up from her, and spread his wings wide, creating the appearance that his bulk was greater than it already was. He growled at her, smoke emitting from his nostrils, and rushed again, never relenting or giving up, giving his all to subdue, or to break her.

A smile briefly flashed across Elaine's face as her sword nicked Einar's side. But the man retaliated swiftly, giving Elaine no time to even back up. His knee crushed into her abdomen, and Elaine grunted in pain as she doubled over. Eridor snarled. Stand up, Rider! You are leaving your neck exposed! At her dragon's warning, Elaine, despite the coursing pain, stood straight and back peddaled away from Einar. Flourishing her rapier, Elaine debated her next move. The enemy rider was quick, and attentive. He seemed well suited to many types of fighting. For the moment, Elaine made due with circling him, trying to buy herself some time to catch her breath. ~~~~
Vana was a bit surprised she had hit her mark. She had been expecting him to easily avoid her attack. As her sword slid easily through his arm, she winced. Although she was the one who commited the deed, she hated to see him in pain. Before Vana could withdraw Andlat, Equinox pushed away from her. The wound in her thigh didn't give her much of a brace to stay standing, instead, she fell with a thud on her back. Fighting with an impaled thigh was going to be difficult. She couldn't move without causing herself pain. Gritting her teeth, Vana rolled into a crouch, then launched herself towards Equinox. Her aim was to tackle him, and hopefully be able to bring Andlat around to knock him unconcsious. Unfortunately, he was an elf in his prime, except for his injured arm. The task would be difficult.
Viel snarled at Góùréd, her face a mask of ferocity. As the gold dragon rushed again, Viel dove down, her tail narrowley avoiding another encounter with the dragon. Flaring her wings, she brought herself to a sudden stop, then, with a powerful downward thrust of her wings, she launched herself back up, behind Góùréd. Her talons racked at his hind leg.

The way she launched herself caught him off guard, but luckily he was able to regain himself in time. He twisted out of the way sharply, the blood from his wound flying to the ground because of so. He ended up behind her, his sword raised, his knees bent, ready to jump onto her if she fell, and ready to strike at her if she regained her balance. Equinox's face was pouring sweat, but he seemed not to notice as he crouched, his right hand wrapped around his sword hilt tightly.
Góùréd gave a roar of pain as her talons tore scales loose of his hind legs and he turned around at her, letting loose a torrent of fire, his maw stretched as wide as possible as the fire sped towards her, intent on burning her hide.

All of the momentum carrying Vana forward was impossible to stop with her injured leg. As her target lithely twisted away, she stumbled forwards, made a valiant effort to remain on her feet, and then fell to her knees and hands. The impact jarred her injury, taking her breath away. Who knew leg wounds could be so devestating? A shadow passed over her, and she knew it was Equinox. He was upon her before she could move.
With a roar, Viel curled herself into a ball, the spikes standing out sharply in contrast with the circular shape. Her wings were clasped to her side and tucked in the center of the ball her body created, and she ducked her head down securely. The mass of fire rushed onto her as soon as she finished her circle manuever. The intense heat of the flames washed over her, scorching her red scales black and burning across the exposed wing membrane. Fortunately, Viel plummeted out of the way of the fire before it could cause further damage. As the coolness of open sky washed over her, Viel unfurled her body and spread her scorched wings wide, stoping her fall towards earth. She flew in a circle below Góùréd, her tongue hanging out of her mouth. The fight had been going for some time, and she now starting to lag. Viel glanced up at the gold dragon above her, waiting for his next move.

Equinox stood over Vana, looking down on her, his face clenched in pain. He dropped down onto her, his knees on her shoulders, to prevent her from escaping, and his hands pinned on her arms. "Give up, there is no way." He stared dead in her eyes, his own pleading, while his face gave away nothing. He murmured a single word as he reached past his mental barrier for the magic to send Vana unconcious. He the glanced up worried, at a cry from Góùréd, worry spreading across his face, and clutched his stomach, his face in pain.
Góùréd gave a roar of pleasure when his flames hit Viel. He was about to give her more, when he felt a tug on his underbelly. He glanced down, and saw multiple arrows lodged into it. He gave a mental cry tot Equinox, the pain spreading across their mental link. The golden dragon had lost a lot of blood from his past injury's and was flying slower now, his movements decreased of speed.

Einar groaned to himself as he circled around the Rider. Over exhausted and frustrated, Einar knew that he had to defeat this rider in order for him to accomplish his real mission: to kill Nausada and King Orrin. If I go at this any longer I am going to collapse out of exhaustion. Do not fear. I will lend you my strength. We are one. Stigandr transfered some of his energy to his rider, whilst still keeping some in reserve in case the gray dragon decided to fight again.
Einar breathed in deeply as the new found energy coarsed through his veins and soul. The energy was enough for him; for now he would be able to heal himself without using too much energy. With a thin smile, Einar quickly healed his right shoulder. He left his other wounds alone, for he wanted to have as much energy as possible to defeat the Rider and accomplish his mission.
Twisting his shoulder around, Einar was satisfied. He unsheathed his right blade. "Better, much better." He grinned devilishly. He twirled his blades around his palm.
Although Einar was not at full strength, he was still able to move quickly as he blurred to the right to attack the rider's side again.

Not good. Elaine thought miserably, watching the silver rider heal his shoulder. She glanced behind her shoulder at Eridor, conveying to him with her eyes that it would be allright. The gray dragon's talons twisted into the dirt at his fury that his rider was in any sort of danger. As Elaine turned back around, Einar was ready for the fight, rejuvinated. With inhuman speed, he lunged at her side. Elaine's fatigue allowed her to barely block the assault. Her rapier slid down the side of the thicker sword, swinging it away from causing major damage to her side, but still gaining a thick slice through her flesh. The wound stung fiercly, and Elaine ground her teeth together to keep from crying out. With a painfully sluggish move, she twisted around at slashed at the riders back. ~~~~
Vana felt the pressure on her shoulders and new instantly that Equinox was holding her down. His words made her scowl. "Never!" She shouted, twisting underneath him, trying to gain purchase to throw him off. But it was no use, the elf was much too strong for her. A sudden blanket of blackness clouded her vision, and a second later her mind blanked out. Vana fell limply to the bloody ground of the battle field, unconscious.
Viel screamed a roar of rage as a part of her own mind seemed to fade away. She knew what it meant; Vana had been beaten, subdued and knocked out. Her garnett eyes searched the battle field until she spotted Equinox upon Vana. You will be allright, my rider. she thought, mainly to soother herself. Her slited eyes moved to the battle between Einar and the other woman rider, coming to rest upon the gray dragon. He was similar to Stigandr in many ways, and there colors were almost alike, except that Stigandr shone like a jewel and the gray one seemed nothing more than a storm cloud, the light that occasionaly glanced off his scales seemed like the lightning from the cloud. You, you are not so lucky. Knowing that Góùréd was too weak now to give chase, Viel renewed her path towards the gray. In her exhaustion, Viel's flight was slowed, but she would not be deterred.
