Tyr blinked heavily, recovering from the shock. He placed a hand on his cheek and moved his mouth from side to side. Hmm, that wouldn't be the first time a woman did that, but hell, that hurt!
"Looks like I hit a nerve." Tyr continued to talk with his hand on his cheek. "Think about Marola. You think long and hard on what side you're truly on. This is a war." His voice grew dark as he placed his hand down. "Your father choose a side and he died valiantly for it. He knew which side was deemed the better! Do you?!" Tyr's anger got the best of him as his voice echoed throughout the room. "Will you go to a side that has claimed the life of your father?! Are you that blind and helpless?!"

"And since when did you start caring about what my father thought, or what side I was on, or or anything about me?" she snapped back. "You've never expressed any intrest in anything that had to do with my life, except for what you could get out of me! So why the sudden intrest, huh? Afraid of losing one of your toys?" Even as she spoke, she remembered her dream from the night before and could hear her father telling her to avenge him. His voice rang loud in her mind. She kept her face turned away from both the men in the room so they wouldn't see the tears of sorrow, fear, frustration, and hate that fell down it.

Tyr sneered at her. "What makes you think this is all about you? I'm sorry to disappoint, but this is about the well fare of the Empire. You have any idea how many people want Dragon Riders? They don't care about you on that side! Has not the Empire fed, clothe, and supported you?! Did not your father? Do you care not the side he choose? Does everything mean nothing to you?!"

"Leave her alone." Caleb finally said. He couldn't bear it anymore, it wasn't his fight, but this guy was hitting a nerve. "Marola, hurry up and finish so we can be gone." he said.

Marola heard Tyr. She heard Caleb. She did not respond to either of them. In her mind, she a reliving her father's death. FLASHBACK: Watching the old man kill him her Morzan's own sword. Seeing him steal Zar'roc, along with a blue dragon egg. She ran to her dying father as Brom ran away. Morzan looked up at her from where he lay. "Marola...avenge me," he said. "I will, Daddy." END. I will, Daddy... Marola thought as she stood there. She felt her heart begin to grow cold and hard. Not moving, her face still turned away from the others, vengence was the only thing on Marola's mind.

Tyr smirked in response to Caleb. "Why don't you just get lost, lover boy?" His eyes averted to Marola, who seemed to carry a new demeanor, despite her back being turned.

"Why don't you go fall on your sword?" Caleb retorted. "Marola what's wrong?" he ask. He too noticed that something was not quite right with her, and he suddenly becamse frightened.

Marola turned to face the two men slowly. There was something different in her face. Her stance, her expression, her eyes; they all took on a darker look. For the first time in her life she looked more like her father than her mother. She looked every bit as cruel and fearsome as Morzan ever had. A clod gleam flashed in her eyes, reflecting exactly how her heart felt. "Leave," she told them in a commanding voice, "Both of you. Now!"

"Marola, you know how to find me." Caleb said, turning and leaving.

Tyr scoffed. "Its about time you decided." He turned and left the room, knowing the eyes she now bore were different. He sighed out of relief. That was a close one. He recalled the conversation he had with his mentor a few years back.
Flashback:
"There is something you need to understand Tyr. There is a balance that needs to be made for the Empire." 'What kind of balance?" Tyr yawned. "Let's just say, that the older generation is dying and the new generation will have to take over soon." "So?" "So, there are members in this castle that need to take charge when the old are gone. For example, the offsprings of the Forsworn." "What's the point of this conversation, Master? They're for the Empire aren't they?" "Now...but I have seen the future...." "Master?" Tyr grew more attentive. "What do you mean? If there is no heir, our livelihood will diminish." "I see that worries you...and it should, for in the future I have seen much indecisiveness in their parts...it is your duty to keep them swayed for the Empire." "Why should I care for it? If they fall, someone else will take their place." "Foolish boy!" His master yelled and slapped him. "Your vanity will get the best of you, mark my words. This is beyond your understanding! Do as I say, for this is your true purpose: to serve the Empire and to make sure its heirs will survive to take over!" Rubbing his cheek, Tyr nodded. "I swear it will be done, my Master." He said in the Ancient Language.
Flashback ends:
Now, as Tyr walked, he finally understood the words of his Master. Those of the Forsworn were becoming conflicted because of infatuations. It disgusted Tyr; life was easier when you ignored emotions. He was successful in getting Marola back on track...for now...Einar on the otherhand was a different story...these days, that man's mind seemed oblivious...no doubt from his insanity...

Kalri and Mar returned to the castle. Loosing Jeriah's trail and Marola disappearing had just been the final straw for her. She walked through the hall with Mar close behind her. She slowed allowing his hand to lightly brush hers as he passed. She smiled slightly and felt eyes on her. She turned to see Tyr. 'Did he see?' Her eyes flashed as the darkness looked out from behind her hold. She turned and walked toward Tyr, following him for a distance. "What are you doing slinking around the castle near the rider's quarters?" she demanded.

Marola relaxed again as the two men left. She turned and looked in the mirror. In her reflection, she saw someone she didn't recognize; a hard person, without compassion or mercy or feeling of any kind. The look in her eyes was hard and angry. Is this what my father really wanted for me? she wondered. It doesn't matter. This is what I have become. I shall ever be loyal to my king.

Tyr felt a presence behind him before hearing Kalri's voice. Dejected and not in the mood he turned to face her. "I'm free to go about as I please." Tyr responded. "And I am nor was I slinking around the castle." He looked at her carefully; she seemed agitated about something. "And what of you? What are you doing strolling around the castle?" He didn't notice Mar, but did feel another presence, but he ignored it, bored out his mind.

“Do not forget to whom you speak!” Kalri glared at him. As her anger rose she felt the darkness within her reach out to Tyr. ‘What is this?’ she thought to herself as she felt the pull. She shook her head slightly trying to maintain her control. She thought of Mar but Legion was trying hard to make herself known to him. Her eyes darkened as her demeanor toward him softened. She was still in control but barely. “I…uh…” she looked at him as her mind fought the darkness. “It’s my right to travel anywhere I please within my father’s castle.” She was feeling light headed as she battled with Legion. She raised her hand to her forehead and fell back against the wall.

Tyr raised a curious eyebrow and then a confused expression fell upon his face. "I will keep in mind to remember that, Princess" He said and bowed low. "Excuse, but I must attend to other matters." He told her, slightly intrigued on her odd change of mood. "I think I'll send a servant over here...you look like you need one." He added before departing and sending a maid to tend to Kalri.
