Kalri looked at the girl, now standing between her and Latham with an air of surprise. Regaining her composure, she licked her lips as she squared off with Jeriah. "Weeelllll...Hello pet! Back from the dead already? Mmmm. I think I shall like playing with the undead just as much as the living. Perhaps more." The golden fires flickered in her eyes as the darkness enveloped her. The magic rising within her again, snaking around her as she stared into the eyes of Jeriah. The blackness of her soul shone out from the hallway, flooding the throne room, fighting the light emanating from Jeriah for dominance. The fire in her eyes faded from gold to black as the evil smile came over her face and the black magic began to spill forth from her.

Even as all the dark magic poured forth from Kalri, Even more light radiated from Jeriah. The light and the darkness gathered around their perspective hosts for a minute, then rushed at each other, colliding in between them. The mingled magic exploded all around the hall, causing extraordinary things to happen with the light of the room. If anyone was there and not engrossed by the two girls now fighting, the light of the room would have been breath-taking. As the magic cleared, Jeriah and Kalri still stood facing each other. "Well now," said Jeriah, "It seems you may have met your match, Kalri." OOC: I added a Marola POV on my last post. It was time to get I disagreeassin girl back in character. lol.

"Maybe, but if that be the case, we shall both perish!" Kalri rounded on the girl as the magic again spilled forth from her quashing all light within the hallway until only darkness was left. It snaked throughout the hall, slithering quielty into the throne room and then the clash of swords was heard. Kalri's fury and rage built within her as she battled with the girl. Her senses so keen that she could see the girl, even in the darkness.

A strange feeling erupted inside Lathem. It felt like two sides were fighting. Not over him. Over life. Everything. He opened his eyes and there. Jeriah. The beauty took over his body, tears falling down his cheeks and his mind holding nothing but her. It seemed as if she was glowing. But she was glowing! He glanced over and and saw Kalri, a darkness emanating from her that sent shivers down Lathem's spine. All images of Jeriah disappeared and all he saw was killing a Surdian over and over again, stabbing him in the back multiple times. An evil grin appeared on Lathem's face, a strange darkness coming from him as it was from Kalri. Lathem snapped back, trying to drive away the darkness. The light from Jeriah snapped into view, the tears falling again. Darkness. Light. Darkness. Light. Lathem. Lathem held the darkness and light for a moment and let go of a roar that fell on the land like a weight, all corners of Alagaesia hearing the yell, trying to cover their ears from the pain. Dark and light poured out of his mouth as he yelled, his mutated gedwey ignasia glowing like a room full of candles. The purple light shone upon Jeriah and Kalri, destroying every other light or darkness in the corridor. The roar kept going, turning into a dragon's roar. Zamah's roar. Lathem and Zamah's roars were one, bouncing off every mountain and tree and lake across the land. The roar lasted for what seemed like hours, when really it probably was only a few minutes. After a while, it faded into the quietest thing that ever was, quietness falling upon Alagaesia, no one wanting to break the serenity for fear of never hearing it again. Hearing nothing. Nothing. The roar ended. Lathem's eyes were purple, matching Zamah's beautiful scales, and he felt different. Changed. He looked down and his father's sword was now latched on his left side and a deep purple the same color as his eyes was on his right side, matching the the purple tunic and dark black pants he now wore. The gem on his sword was a dark black, swirling around inside the walls of the jewel like Kalri's dark magic. Representing the darkness that had swirled around in him. His anger. His hate. His resentment. His love. His dark pants were tight, sticking to his legs as if they were going to be separated forever. His leather boots were now ankle high, a dark black color just like his pants. Then he noticed something else. He couldn't feel his hair brushing against his forehead any longer. He slowly brought his hand up to his hair and felt it nice and clean. And short. An image passed in his mind and he knew. It was him. He had stylishly messy short black hair and his deep purple eyes that were endless, no blemished marking his body but the scar of when he cut out his heart and replaced it with Jeriah's. He looked perfect. When he was bringing his hand down he saw his palm. The mutated gedwey ignasia was still there, but more clear. And it seemed to move. When he looked at the ring, it seemed to show him giving it to Jeriah. And when he looked at the gedwey ignasia from Zamah, he saw when Zamah hatched for him, and he saw their relationship growing, the last motion showed them reuniting. The gedwey ignasia made him smile. It showed his life. After inspecting his body he looked up. (Sorry I'm going to God-mod here. Just a little though.) Jeriah and Kalri's eyes were on him, looking surprised. In a clear voice, Lathem said loudly, "Enough. This is over." He walked over to Jeriah and took her hand, not before giving her a smile and a twinkle in his eyes though. He put his arm around her and pulled her closer to him, in case Kalri wasn't going to let them past. He gave Kalri a daring look and they walked past her, Lathem rubbing Jeriah's arm slightly. He touched her ear barely with his lips and whispered quietly, "It's alright, my love. We'll be alright. Love will bring us out." He kept them walking, trying to get as far away from Kalri as possible. OCC: Here's a picture of how Lathem looks now, except he needs deep purple eyes and the purple tunic. Otherwise, it's him.

Kalri watched as Lathem looked at her. Daring her to try to stop them. Pulling the dagger from her boot, she loosed it toward him with a powerful blast of the black magic still writhing around her. Simultaneously, she threw a large black bolt towards the balustrade just in front of Jeriah and Lathem. The bolt hit it showering down rock and stone in front of the lovers, blocking the path. Her anger seethed inside of her as she breathed heavy and deep. Her eyes still black as night. "Touching but I am afraid it's not enough." She briefly felt for her father. All of this commotion was surely going to anger him. She would need to do something drastic to end this now.

Lathem pushed Jeriah out of the way and twirled around, shooting the dagger into the wall left of him and the black magic flying out of his reach, hitting the balustrade ( ) in front of him, pieces of it flying everywhere. Lathem quickly put a ward around Jeriah and then an idea came to him. He felt stupid for not thinking of it before. He ran over to Jeriah and grabbed her hand, saying, "Go to the Spine!" in the ancient language. His palm glowed a purple tint and they were there. Lathem looked up and saw his home. Home. The word sounded sweet, like honey on his tongue. He squeezed Jeriah's hand and looked over at her. "We're home, Jeriah, sweet."

Stunned that such a thing was possible, Galbatorix just watched Jeriah run off. Alive!? "HOW!" he shouted. What did you do, lizard! he asked Shruikan. The black dragon gazed back at him with filmy eyes. I have done nothing. I am not a part of this. Galbatorix sneered at the massive dragon. "You will be soon enough. You cannot hide behind the throne forever." Shruikan remained silent, which almost caused Galbatorix further rage. Releasing a frustrated sigh, the king got to his feet and marched out of the throne room, into the hall where a dozen colors danced.. A ways down the corridor, he encountered Kalri, Lathem, and Jeriah. The girl seemed to be glowing. The gleam around her was like the sun, while the black magic twisting around Galbatorix's body seemed like a black hole. The hall was in ruins, marble laying in chunks upon the floor, pillars tilted, some completely fallen. With a rage so intense it was ready to explode, Galbatorix marched closer to the girl and Lathem. "You will both die!" he shouted, his voice seeming to reverberate. Lifting his hands, he hurled a black ball of his lethal magic at Lathem and Jeriah, careful to avoid Kalri.
The magic never hit it's mark. It struck through thin air, exploding into the wall at the far end of the hall, obliterating it. Gone. They were both gone. Just like that, more of his foes had slipped from his grasp. Disgusted and enraged, Galbatorix threw back his head and screamed, the sound like a thousand different voices, some human, some draconic. At the end, he fell to his knees, hands shaking. "GONE!" he shouted, infuriated.

Jeriah briefly saw Galbatorix sending a load of magic their way. Then, for another short second, she saw nothing. Then, finally, she saw that she was home, in the Spine, with Lathem. It was not quite the Lathem she remembered. His hair, one a bluish-gray hair was now a deep black, his eyes the color of Zamah's scales. He looked better than she had ever seen him before. Though it was still dark outside, there was plenty of light in the room. She was not shining as brightly as when she had been angry. As soft glow came from deep within her. Jeriah could not see herself, but if she could, she would not recognize herself anymore than she could have Lathem at first glance. Her hair had been a dark, dulled blonde before. Now it was light gold, nearly white. While her eyes still held their sky blue shade, there was more in them. Deep amber glints shone from deep within the blue. She was once again wearing the orange gown she had on while she was dead. Her gold belt was fastened about her waist, she orange sword at her side. And the pain on her heart. That was still there. But she noticed something strange. While it throbbed as if there were a beat, she did not feel a heart in her chest. But none of that mattered. Lathem was free, and she was alive. They were together again. Unable to restrain herself, she threw her arms around Lathem and gave him a loving kiss. After a few moments, she pulled away and gave him a grin. "You didn't have to do that, love. I had everything under control." She gave a small laugh.

Kalri struggled to restrain the magic she was about to unleash as her father came from the throne room, bearing down on Lathem and Jeriah. He was in her line of fire. She watched as he unleashed his own mighty power then as the pair vanished. She heard her father's scream and the multitude of voices that sounded within it. She fought to take back control as it threatened to surge out of control. The sweat heavy on her brow as her eyes changed back to the brown with the golden streaks. She began to shake and the magic shot up from her like a rocket, striking the ceiling. She screamed as it hit a chandelier shattering it into a million glass projectiles and boring a hole through the ceiling itself, the debris falling slowly toward her. She had lost her battle for control and weakened herself in the process. She looked at her father as her eyes rolled back into her head and she hit the floor.

A scream tore into Galbatorix's senses, bringing him back to himself. Blinking rapidly, he glanced around the destroyed hall. Kalri lay limp a few feet from him, the crystal glass of a chandelier scattered around her. His cold heart suddenly burned with panic. Surging to his feet, he ran to his fallen daughter and lifted her into his arms. Cradling her to his chest, he checked her pulse. His breathing came easier when he knew she was still alive. Smoothing back her dark hair, he walked slowly back to the throne room. Kalri seemed merely to be unconsious. "You have great power, my daughter," he murmured, "One day you will master it." In a deep baritone, Galbatorix began humming under his breath, a song about a dragon and riders first battle. The song took him into the throne room, where he sat upon his great throne and rocked Kalri back and forth. Nothing mattered more to him than the girl in his arms. As he rocked her, his black magic probed her body, checking for any other injury. Finding none, he simply waited for her to wake, humming under his breath. The destroyed hall could wait.

Kalri felt her fathers strong arms around her, rocking her gently. She heard him singing to her. His voice pleased her greatly and shone as a beacon in the darkness around her. She followed the sound of his voice. Slowly she opened her eyes, blinking them hard, trying to regain focus. Her head hurt. "Father" she spoke softly to him. "I'm sorry I failed you." She raised a hand to her head, slowly rubbing it trying to remove the pain she felt.

At the sound of his daughter's voice, Galbatorix stopped rocking and looked down at her. His eyebrows drew down as he frowned. "There is nothing to apologize for, Kalri. You didn't fail me, and you never will." He watched her rub her head, but there was nothing he could do about it. He did not excell in healing, but in destruction and dark magic. "I just want you to rest. When you feel better, perhaps you would like to go after Jeriah and Lathem." He raised an eyebrow, "with Mar, of course. Maybe a few others. The girl has proven a force to reckon with." At the thought of her and Lathem, a thin tendril of rage trickled into him.

Kalri looked up into her father's eyes. "Yes father as you wish." She would go after Jeriah and the boy, Lathem but not quite yet. "Father, if it is alright with you. I think I would like to lie down for awhile before I get started." She rose slowly and walked behind the throne through the secret passage connecting to her room.

Caleb rushed after Jeriah when she left. "Balvir find Oranthor and tell him what's happening, then follow me." Caleb shouted to his dragon. Caleb ran ard and fast as he could, finally arriving back at the balsted castle. Caleb went to the same window that he was at the day before, and watched the battle of Jeriah and Kalri. "Run Jeriah, the King is here!" Caleb shouted. Just as Galbatorix sent his magic, Jeriah and Lathem vanished. "Balvir, they're gone. Let's go find them." Caleb said. Balvir swooped down and picked up his rider with a giant orange dragon following behind him.
