A tear escaped Lathem's eye. "Nothing." But his voice was raspy. Anyone could have told that something was wrong.

Jeriah shook her head, reaching out to grab his hand. "Lathem, have we not come far enough to stop lying to one another?" She pressed his hand over her scar, the flaw causing her much more pain because she was watching her love hurting somehow and he wouldn't tell her how to stop it. She gazed into his amethyst eyes. "I ask again: what is wrong, love?"

Mar hugged Kalri tight, trying to calm her. "Listen," he said quietly. "We are what we are. You are the princess of the kingdom, the daughter of the king, my love. I am nothing but a handyman for your father, a tool to use at his whim. And to add a little spice to our lives, we love each other, or at least like each other a lot...and I mean A LOT!" He smiled at her. "Do not let thses worries flood through your mind. You have the strength and resolve to conquer them. And one day...we will no longer have to hide our feelings from others."

"I pray that you are right Mar. You are my reason for fighting. If it hadn't been for you..." her voice trailed off as she remembered the night he had found the light within her. The night he took her to experience all of her firsts. The night she finally felt really alive. She kissed him softly. "I look forward to the day when we no longer hide!"

Mar kissed her back. "As do I," he said, looking into her beautiful eyes.

"Mar. How can I commit such unspeakable acts one minute and the next feel what I do for you with such intensity? The feelings contradict each other so extremely." She looked at him truly confused.

Mar smiled softly, sitting on a nearby chair. Motioning for her to sit on his leg, Mar took a cup from the table. "Kalri, look at this cup," he said, filling it half way. "It is half empty? Or half full?"

Kalri moved to sit upon his leg as he motioned to her. "It is neither. It has perfect balance. One in harmony with the other." She looked at him questioningly. "Why?" She felt at peace with his touch. His presence had always helped her maintain a balance although it was precarious at best.

Mar smiled widely at her. "Good," he said. Setting the cup down. "It is a perfect balance. A balance between empty and full. Life is much the same. It is a balance between right and wrong, good and evil, light and dark. You must find a way to balance this. No one can tell you how, it is up to you. I can help as much as I can, but ultimately it is up to you to find that balance."

"Mar you have seen the darkness in my soul. The darkness of my father and Nashante. How can anything good have come from that union?" She layed her head against his.

Mar rested his arms around her shoulders. "Look at where you are now," he said. "Some good has come of it. If not, I would not be where I am with you now."

She looked into his eyes. He was the best thing that had happened to her. "I will admit that Wyrda blessed me the day you came into my life. Even if I gave you fits in the beginning." She laughed softly. She brushed the hair back from his face.

Mar shrugged his shoulders, then nodded. "Ya, you did cause me some headaches as first." He laughed, putting his arm around the small of her back. "Well, I think I should be going. People will get suspicious if I'm here too long and they can't sense what is going on."

Caleb told Jeriah to go ahead, although he thought he knew what was wrong. "Balvir, you did follow Oranthor by thought right? Not by sight like I said." "Yes Caleb, neither of us knows the way, just like you wanted." Balvir replied. Caleb was happy that his dragon was so loyal to him. He walked into the house, trying to find Lathem. "Lathem, I think I know what's bothering you. I do not know the way to the house, and neither does Balvir. You may search my mind to tell me if I'm lying." Caleb said. He then repeated in the Ancient Language, making sure that Lathem and Jeriah knew he was telling the truth.

Kalri kissed him lightly before lowering the protective wards around her room. "Meet in the courtyard we shall leave as soon as everyone is assembled." she hated speaking to him in the tone she was forced to take. "Now go." She watched as Mar left her room, waiting a few minutes before she exited. As she walked through the doorway, a servant was nearby staring at her. Seeing her, Kalri pointed a finger shooting a small burst of black magic toward her knocking over the bucket of water she was using to wash the floor. "Keep your mind to your own business!" she yelled as she walked by. Her hand within her pocket, she lightly rubbed upon the wooden bear that Mar had given her. 'I am in control.' she whispered under her breath. Perhaps this would help. The woman after all, was still alive!
She made her way to the courtyard where Marola and Mar awaited her with the dragons. "Are we ready?" she asked her voice strangely cold.
