Mar played with the rope in his hand absently, just looking out over the area. "How would I know why he wants one now! And you know what I'm talking about. There was no ritual for the Seithrs to complete the other night. Why do you think I chose to take you when I did?"

"But yet you stopped me from completing mine? If you had any idea what you did!" She had to be careful around him. He was smart and cunning.

"Ya, I did. Because you were leaving and something about it felt....dark. It was not a normal Seithr ritual. Do not think me a fool." He looked at the sun in the sky. "It is getting late. We are to be in the city by midnight. Let's go." Mar mounted the horse, motioning for Nashante to follow suit.

Nashante followed him to the horse. She looked to him, "Do I get to ride or am I to be a pack again?"

"You can ride with me, if you want," he said. "Or do you think being strapped is more comfortable?"

Nashante grabbed his arm and swung herself up on the horse behind him. The feel of him disgusted her as she was bound by her promise to go with him.

Mar hated her touch against him, but he knew he had no choice. It was better to suffer her touch, than struggle with her incessant whining. They reached the city around midnight. The guards would not let them enter at first, until Mar showed himself and threatened the man with a punishment worse than death. within minutes of entering the city, they reached the palace.

Nashante's heart quickened. She felt as if she needed to flee but where? She slowed her pace, trying to duck down a hall way, she ran as fast as she could trying to get away anywhere but here. Her panic in full force as her heart raced.

Mar saw Nashante run off, but he did not chase after her. He knew the castle well, the secret corridors and where each hall lead. He walked calmly down a hall, taking a few direct turns, and then stepped in front of Nashante, knocking her to the ground with his body. "I thought we agreed no running?" he asked, pulling her to her feet. This time, he held her tightly, his grip like ice.

His hands gripped her arms tightly, hurting her. The skin under his grasp turned white as the blood fled from his touch. She could feel the muscles bruising as he pulled her roughly to her feet. Her heart continued to beat furiously, feeling as if it would burst from her chest.
“I agreed to follow you to the castle. We are here so my promise is fulfilled!” She managed to keep her words sharp, though her resolve was betrayed by her body. She began to tremble from her fear. She struggled against him, trying desperately to break free of his hold. She knew the fate that awaited her this night and she fought to escape it.

Shaking her with one arm, Mar jarred her to face him squarely. "Than you have lost all respect you may have earned," he said calmly, tying her hands together again. "The king never mentioned what condition you were to arrive in." He smiled, then threw her over his shoulder and walked into the throne room. "Sire, I have brought your request."

Nashante’s body jarred from the force he shook her with. His calmness about her predicament infuriated her. He treated her as nothing more than animal breeding stock. The ropes cut deep into her wrists, the skin already rubbing from her beneath them. She hurled every conceivable insult at him she could think of as he carried her through the halls and into the throne room. ‘Brought his request!’ the words infuriated her even further. She kicked her legs violently trying in every way possible to hurt him.

Galbatorix heard the commotion in the hallway. 'I would know that shriek anywhere.' The snarl played upon his lips as he watched the doors. His fingers drummed impatiently upon the armrests of the throne.
The evil smile came over his lips as the darkness settled upon him. He took pleasure listening to her hurl insults at Mar and seeing her struggle. His hands clenched tightly to the armrests.
His eyes narrowed as Mar brought Nashante before him. “Well done Mar! I am very pleased! I take it you met with some resistance?” An eerie look spread in his eyes as he spoke the last word. The black fires jumped to life within them along with something else....excitement!

Mar bowed low, as if Nashante were not even upon his shoulders. "I have, sire," he said, taking Nashante down and holding her before him on her knees. "I am relieved, sire?"

Galbatorix nodded, waving his hand to Mar. “Yes! Yes! That will be all for now, but do not wander too far. Your services will be required later! I have taken the liberty to move your quarters to the restricted section. I trust that you will be comfortable there.”
Galbatorix was slightly preoccupied at the prospect of his plans getting underway and kept his gaze on Nashante.

Mar bowed low to the king, glancing at Nashante. As he turned to leave, he unbound Nashante's wrists. "That'll make it easier," he said with an evil grin.
