OOC: can i make it dusk now?
Murtagh was walking slowly towards the city, he had managed to find small flock of wild goats, but by putting himself in their minds, he calm them down enough to follow him to the city. As he neared he saw a few gaurds standing at the entrance, Murtagh broke into song. "Oh! I travle far, and I travle near Me poor bones ach and me feet do feel The harsh rough ground neath what I walk But soon an ale, will calm this harsh talk..." The guards didnt even blink an eye at him as he wandered past them with the goats. Once inside the city, he instructed the goats to stay where they were, they just looked at him with vauge expressions. Thorn! Now! Murtagh told the red dragon.
Thorn launched himself into the sky and let out a challenging roar, he sped to the city with all his speed. Once he neared he gained hight and let out another bellow along with a red hot flame into the sky. Hurry now, I will not be able to hold them off for long. Thorn told Murtagh.
Murtagh made his way into the city corridors. He searched with his mind for Nasuada, he needed to speak to her. ~~~~
Sayu and Kiona flew in great big lazy circles. Just as a nice warm thermal began to lift Kiona they both heard the dragons call. Lets go! Sayu said, she tightened the straps on her legs and layed down flat against Kionas neck. Kiona charged towards the city, they saw a giant flame errupt in the sky and headed towards it. Kiona roared in respons to Thorn and charged straight for him.

Elaine nodded to Sayu, opening her mind as she did so. "You're right. Eridor and I will keep to the east and watch for any signs. Good luck." Elaine gave another nodd, then Eridor turned himself around sharply, flying quickly to the east. The day passed uneventfully, and soon, the sun set on the horizon. Dusk was upon them, and still no sign of Murtagh or the red dragon, Thorn. Eridor rolled his shoulders as he flew, stretching his muscles. Keep alert, rider. Maybe he's hoping we will get lazy. Yes. That could true. It might have worked, too. I need to wake up a bit. Sitting straight up, Elaine put herself into the direct line of the cool evening wind. The icy blast struck her in the fast, momentarily taking her breath away. Gasping, Elaine quickly hunkered back down. Ok. I'm officially awake. Eridor's laugh shook Elaine. Before she could come up with a reply, a sudden, offensive roar echoed from the west. Murtagh! In response, Eridor twisted around and pumped his wings powerfully, setting off in a burst of speed.
As the west side came to view, Elaine and Eridor witnessed Kiona and Sayu charging Thorn. However, there was something wrong with the picture. Murtagh is not with him! Eridor roared. Anxious, Elaine gripped one of the gray dragons large neck spikes. Quickly, Eridor. Take me down to the castle! Clasping his wings to his side, Eridor plummeted down in a steep dive. He brought himself to a stop above a courtyard closest to Nasuada. While he hovered above the small yard, Elaine ripped the leg straps off her legs and swung them over Eridor's side. Before dismounting, she leaned her face against Eridor's thick neck. Careful, heart of my heart. Eridor released a low croone. You as well. Straightening, Elaine slid of the dragons side. The short drop lasted only a moment, and then Elaine was running through the castle. Upon coming to the guards standing before Nasuada's room, she skidded to a halt. "Rider Elaine," one of them said, "what has happened?" "Murtagh is back. Thorn is attacking near the city entrance. Two of you, stay here with me to protect Nasuada. You other two, get to king Orrin and relay the message!" Bringing fists to heart in a salute, the two designated guards ran off down the corridor, armor clinking. With the remaining guards, Elaine walked into Nasuada's office. The varden leader was already on her feet. ~~~~
Nasuada, heart beating furiously, stared firmly at Elaine. "What is it, Argetlam?" The rider, rather breathless, related the news. Nasuada frowned. What is he up to? she wondered, anxiety creeping forward to clutch her heart. Anxiety and something... else. "Thank you for coming. What of King Orrin?" Elaine waved her hands at the question, as if saying the matter was at hand. "I sent the other two guards to warn him." "Good." "Don't worry, my lady. Murtagh won't harm you." Nasuada had to hold tightly to the emotions that threatened to become evident. "Of course. I trust you all." Falling silent, Nasuada's eyes wandered to the closed wood door, waiting. A part of her mind wondered what she would feel if Murtagh did get close. Shaking her head, she straightened her back and placed fisted hands at her sides. She would not meet him as a lovesick girl, but as a powerful leader.

Sayu and Kiona reached Thorn, but before Sayu could tell Kiona that Murtagh was not with him, they clashed in midair. The force of it shook Sayu in the saddle. She quickly righted herself as Sayu snapped at Thorns neck. Thorn pulled back and bellowed at Kiona. Hes not fighting back. Draw him lower Kiona, toward the archers. Sayu said. Kiona pulled herself away from Thorn and started a dive to the city. Thorn started to follow but pulled up short, just out of the range of the archers. "Oh no you don't!" Sayu said. She pulled her bow off her back and loosed an arrow straight at Thorn. He rolled just in time, but got struck on the wing. Come on! Lets see how much more blood we can spill! Kiona said, Sayu was surprised by the anger in her voice.
~~~~
Murtagh walked through the hallways of the city, he found his way slowly to Nasuadas chambers by the images in the mind of the people running by. Keeping his head down he quickened his pace. When he came near the door he saw the rider he met earlier directing the guards away before entering the room herself. Murtagh quickly killed the few guards that remained with one of the words of death. Murtagh went to the door and laid a hand on the door handle. Waiting. He took a deep breath as his arm twitched. Thorn! are you hurt? Murtagh asked, concerned. Its fine. Just hurry. Thorn replied. Murtagh turned the door handle and walked into the office. He saw the two woman standing there, but before he spoke, he barred the door with magic. He turned back to the woman and took off his hood. "Not a sound rider, or it will be your last" Murtagh said to Elaine. He then looked at Nasuada, he tried to speak, but nothing came out. He could only stand there starring at her.
Elaine's body twitched. Outside, the two guards had died. The loss of such life was as bright as the sun to her. Acting quickly, Elaine grabbed Nasuada by the arms and shoved her backwards, pinning her against the back wall. Before the varden leader could speak, the door flew open and a cowled figure strolled through. He didn't need to reveal himself to Elaine, she already knew who he was. Murtagh. Across the bond, a tingling of rage came from Eridor. Unafraid, Elaine placed herself between Nasuada and Murtagh, her hand moving to the hilt of her rapier. About to speak, a gentle hand grabbed her shoulder, and she turned to glance at Nasuada. The regal woman seemed calm. ~~~~
"Do not speak, rider. This man," she turned a glare to Murtagh, "would indeed slaughter you without a thought." She watched as a gleam of anger flashed in Elaine's eyes. "Not without a fight, of course. All the same. I will resolve this peacefully if possible." Nasuada then turned her full attention to Murtagh. The emotion she felt now was unexpected. Sorrow, delight, breathlessness, despair. All of these she had expected. But not a deep, burning anger. Sure, Murtagh was now bound to Galbatorix through the ancient language, but he had not been sworn to slay the dwarf king. He had not sworn to become a cold blooded killer. "Have you come here to kill me, Murtagh?" she asked, a tone of sorrow, mixed with anger in her voice.
Murtagh looked into Nasuadas eyes. He felt the same rush that he did the first time he laid eyes on her. He lowered his eyes then looked up again with a stoney expression. "I would never harm you Nasuada, not even if the King made me swear too" He said in a flat voice. He was expecting all these feelings, but it didnt make it any easier. "I have come to warn you." Murtagh struggled for a moment, he was getting close to breaking the oaths he took for the King. He quickly regained control of himself. "There are people here... from the Empire. They..." Murtagh started to pace the room. He would stop every now and then to try and say something then keep walking. Eventually he stoped and looked at Elaine. "Do you have to be here Rider!!" He bellowed at her. "If I wanted either of you dead I would have done it already!" He wasnt truely angry with Elaine, it was just easier to take his anger at Galbatorix out on her. Murtagh stopped and took a few deep breaths. "You are not safe. They are trained assasians..." Murtaghs knees almost gave out under him. Your going to far. End this now! Thorn warned him. Murtagh looked out the window. "Make arrangments. Hide your eggs. Leave while you can." Murtagh couldnt say any more. He put his hood back over his head and strode to the door.
~~~~
Sayu and Kiona charged back at Thorn again. Thorn arched his neck as a deep rumble emmited from his chest. A torrent of flame raced towards Sayu and Kiona. "Skölir" Sayu barked, holding up her right hand. Kiona responed with her own flame. Thorn dove to avoid it, but got singed on the tail. He had made his mistake, his dive put him in range of the archers. But instead of pulling out of the dive, Thorn kept going towards the archers. Sayu screemed out and Kiona roared. He's going to cook them alive!" Sayu said to Kiona. Without hesitation, Kiona dove after Thorn, but they were going to be too late.

With his faced covered by his cloak and hood, Einar watched as Thorn bellowed. What are you planning Murtagh?Einar thought to himself as a crowd of people ran towards him, away from the red fierce dragon.
*** Arya's eyes bolted to the sky as Thorn emerged. "Faolan!" Her voice was leveled but commanding.
At her command, Faolan nodded at two elves and the three of them ran off towards Thorn to defend the citizens.
Arya's eyes meet General Kell's. "It appears our mission will have to be delayed. I do hope your men are as skilled as you claim, for now will determine so! I want half of them to help the Riders and the other half to protect the King and Lady Nasuada, for I feel that Thorn is just a small piece in a larger scheme." She turned on her heels and raced to protect Lady Nasuada. The Varden depended on her and so, Arya would adhere to her bond of trust and protect Nasuada with her life.
Faolan and his companions made it swiftly to the battle. He sent Jade airborne to scan for any scrupulous individuals; he noticed that Thorn had no Rider - Thorn must have been a diversion; he must find Murtagh. Signaling to his kinsmen he directed them to form a perimeter around Thorn, in a triangular fashion. Though it pained him to harm the dragon, Faolan knew that it was better for the dragon to fall than innocent lives. "On my command, you will loose your arrows." he told them before they quickly departed along the cities rooftops.
Faolan then noticed what Thorn was attempting. Forged magic within your arrows or they will be done for! "Brisingr!" Faolan called out and his arrow lit aflame. Loose your arrows! He told his companions and they did so, as they hoped that it would prevent the tragic event.

Elaine narrowed her eyes dangerously at Murtagh, but kept silent. To answer him, she folded her arms across her chest and set her feet wide apart, in a steady brace. The empire riders' words worried her, and she found herself wondering if one of the assassins was someone she new. A traitor. Impossible. Suddenly, the door to the room rattled in it's sockets, and General Kell's voice came from the other side. "Open this door, Murtagh!" His voice no longer held any humor. Instead, it was filled with command and evident threat. Elaine could only be surprised for a moment. She had to keep alert. ~~~~
Nasuada heard Murtagh's words, and they worried her to an extent that she couldn't even fathom what to do about it. Yet, the sight of him struggling, in obvious pain, nearly pained her as much as the news. As he made to leave, Nasuada broke away from Elaine and rushed to him. Extending a hand, she grabbed his shoulder. "Murtagh, don't go!" If her voice sounded desperate, so be it. "Let us capture you! If you are captured, we can protect you from the king! You won't have to worry about keeping any oaths!" Her hand gripped his shoulder tightly, and she relished the small contact. ~~~~~
Eridor flew swiftly, angling his great body towards the fight of Kiona and Thorn. Part of his mind was distracted with keeping close attention to Elaine. If Murtagh hurt her... A growl ripped from his throat. Finally breaking free of the castle, he flared his wings and came to a hover above the city gates, where he surveyed the scene. Thorn was diving towards the archers, intent on their destruction. Kiona was giving chace. His slitted eyes moved to the archers themselves. They were a mix of human and elven, and the arrows were alit with fire. He worried that they might accidentally strike Kiona. At the moment, there was nothing he could do but watch. If Thorn managed to come back up, he would be waiting.

Tension mounted as Arya debated whether or not to break down Nasuada's door. Her elven ears could hear pass the bolted doors, which only increased her tension. She could not help but to place her hand on the hilt of her sword as she watched General Kell address Murtagh. "If he does not comply, I suggest we break down the door. The Varden cannot lose Nasuada." She held a spell in her mind, knowing that it would easily allow her to blast through the door. However, she would wait for Murtagh's reply before acting, knowing now, that Nasuada shared strong emotions towards the Rider.

Thorn continued to dive towards the archers on the roof, just before he hit them, he let out a deafening roar. He let all his anger and rage into the bellow, challenging any of the archers to shoot one more time. He angled his wings and skimmed over the top of the archers heads, if he still had all of his tail it would have knocked them off the wall. Murtagh, get out now! Thorn yelled at his rider.
Murtagh recoiled at Nasuada's touch, he turned quickly to look at her. His eyes soften for a moment at her words, as he opened his mouth to reply, there came a mans voice on the other side of the door. Murtagh's expression became stony again. "If I let you capture me, the King himself might see fit to pay you a visit, and seeing as you have no control over me, I would not be able to help you fight him. So no Nasuada, I don't think I will let you capture me." With that Murtagh opened the door and came face to face with a man, and standing just behind him, was Arya. Murtagh looked at the man for a moment then said "Either you will be letting me leave by choice, or I will be leaving by force. Its up to you." His eyes darted to Arya then back to the man.
~~~~
Kiona continued her dive after Thorn. Pull up, we need to get hight, he isn't going to land in the city. Sayu said to Kiona. She didn't reply, only pulled out of her dive. Her wing muscles straining to lift her bulk. Sayu looked back to Thorn as he let out a bloody curdling roar, the sound of it sent chills up Sayu's spine. Kiona gained hight and circled above waiting for Thorn. They both looked over and saw Eridor. We have him trapped now! Kiona said to Sayu with evil delight. Sayu was searching with her mind for Murtagh's presence. I still don't understand the point of this Kiona, something is not right. Sayu said to Kiona.
Elaine tensed, ready to rush to General William's defense. However, the hearty man merely stared coldly at Murtagh, unflinching. His reply to the rider of Thorn was brisk.
"I cannot let one such as you pass." He said, pulling a double edged battle axe from his leather belt. "Lets you and I fight like men, Murtagh. No tricks." Will began backing down the corridor, making room to fight.
Elaine's heart beat a furious rythm, her mind pounding with fear for her friend, this man who was the closest to a father she had never had. Motion caught the corner of her eye, and she saw Nasuada take another step closer to Murtagh. Grimacing, Elaine reached out and caught her shoulder. "My lady, stay back, behind me." She made sure to put a hint of command in her voice. Nasuada may be her commander, but Elaine was Nasuada's guardian. Fortuantely, the ebony woman gave a slight nod, the torment in her eye vanishing, replaced with a firm resolve. The varden leader moved behidn the rider, once more standing straight and tall. ~~~~
Eridor flicked his steely eyes to look at Kiona, then returned his gaze to Thorn. He noticed the three feet that were missing from the red-shreik-dragon-Thorn's tail, and he was strangely sorrowful. I do not wish to kill you brother. he thought. For I know you fight against your will. Still, Eridor would do what was neccessary. Cupping his wings, he banked to the right, drawing closer to the red dragon, trying to pin him between himself and Kiona.
