Sayu quietly thanked the chef and the boy for the meal. She broke off a piece of bread and swirled it around her soup before putting it in her mouth. She chewed slowly as she thought of what Elaine was saying. Once she swallowed she asked. "And what of the eggs? Do they hunt them too?" All this news of dragon slayers had Sayu worried. She had to inform her Queen as soon as possible. She picked up a blue berry and twirled it absent mindlessly around her fingers before putting it into her mouth.
Kiona gave Eridor a dragonish grin before tearing into the first deer she killed. She pulled off its head and ate it in one snap of her jaws. Next she started to tear apart the body. Within about 10 minutes she had finished all that she could off the first deer. The second lay on the ground still. Really Eridor, I cannot finish this. You have it while I bury the remains of this one. She said to the grey dragon. She picked up what was left of the first deer and pulled it some 5 meters away. Next she dug a hole and put the deer left overs in it. With one sweep of her tail the hole was covered again. We will return soon. Kiona sent a quick message to Sayu.

OOC: Yay!
Arya glided down the massive palace halls to where Lady Nasauda's office was located. She had just returned from Ellesmera, after seeing Eragon and Saphira leave on their own journey. She had brought news of the Queen's alliance and several elven warriors with her.
Finding the office with ease, she knocked politely on the door.

Elaine shrugged. "I'm assuming they are indeed searching for the eggs. After all, we of the Varden send out our own hunting parties." She tore off a piece of bread and didn't bother with dunking it in soup or spreading it with butter. At the orphanage she had been raised, bread was usually hard to come by, and Elaine relished the taste of it without any embellishments. After swallowing, she continued, "I'm glad you got here without any trouble from the slayers. The generals think that Galbatorix has many of these people stationed across Alagaesia, just waiting for the wrong dragon to fly by." A shudder rippled down her spine. "They know who is an empire rider, and who is not. If they don't recognize the dragon, it is instantly shot down." Elaine used her spoon to stir the soup around. "We know this because some of our riders have come close to being their victims."
Eridor cast one more long look across the land, then dove down to land beside Kiona. Thank you. I appreciate your consideration. Without further ado, Eridor lowered his head and devoured the unfortunate creature in three bites. The small meal was enough to last him for a week. ~~~~
Nasuada glanced up as someone knocked at her door. Four guards were stationed inside her room, two on either side of the door. They guarded her more closely at night. She nodded towards one of the guards, motioning for him to see who it was. He returned hastily, his face a bit red. "The lady Arya here to see you, ma'am." Nasuada's eyebrows rose in surprise.
"Send her in, of course. Be quick about it." Perhaps the elf heir came with good news, yet Nasuada deeply doubted it. Good news was hard to come by in such times of war and strife. The guard walked outside again, where she new he was speaking to Arya.

Sayu blew on her soup to cool it quicker. "This is very disturbing news indeed. Perhaps I should have gone with Kiona. Though I dont doubt Eridor can help her, she does tend to think with her stomach sometimes." Sayu said with a small smile. She lifted a spoonfull of soup to her mouth but stopped before it got there. She felt a new presnece brush past her mind. Arya? She thought. Last Sayu heard she was in Ellesmera. Kiona, Arya is here. Hurry back will you?
Kiona lifted her head and looked back to the city. We will be back soon little one. Kiona looked over to Eridor as he ripped apart the deer. Eridor, Sayu wants me back. She said that Arya is here. Kiona was excited now, she had never met the elf princess, she hoped that Arya would approve of her.

Murtagh and Thorn waited on bated breath for the farmer to leave. He soon started to round the goats up again and headed back to his farm. That was close. Thorn said. Humm, too close for my liking. Murtagh agreed. Murtagh climbed up onto Thorn's saddle to get a better look around. Come on, we should move closer to the city, we cannot stay here where there are civilans so close. Thorn stood up and took one last look around before opening his wings ready to fly. He jumped as high as he could and pumped his wings down. They needed to gain hight as quickly as they could. Within minutes they were up in the clouds. Head East, we will have to use the Beors as cover. If we come across any dwarf then they will die. Murtagh told Thorn.

Arya walked into the room with a graceful, but dominating air about her. She made no eye contact with anyone but Nasuada, for the message was meant only for her.
Once they were alone and Arya thought it secured, she began her message. "Lady Nasuada." Arya greeted. "I bring good tidings for the Varden. The Queen will be sending in reinforcements to Surda for the upcoming battle. I have brought several of my kin to help with any preparations needed here as well as for security. I understand that it has gotten more difficult to defend against the Empire's spies." She revealed a scroll that the Queen gave her. "Th e queen requested that I give you this. It contains a map of where we believe The Empire is occupying their troops. Guard it well, for two of my kinmen have perished to defend this information. She handed it to Nasuada.
*** Einar made his way to the throne room. He had been summoned by the King for whatever reason. The marble floors clunked under his boots as he anxiously awaited what Galbatorix wanted him to do. Another assassination, I assume. That is what I am best at. He stopped outside the main doors, breathing in for a quick moment; it had been awhile since he spoke with the King, for the last time he saw him was when he was taught some dark magic to increase his skills and to have Stigandr grow unnaturally. It was when he also received news that the Varden were gaining riders; the king was so furious that he decapitated one of the servants with a dark spell. Einar shuddered at the memory. Sometimes, his heart wondered if he was doing the right thing, but then he would remember the suffering his mother endured. He could not help but wonder if the King was in a better mood... He took another deep breath and entered the throne room.

Nasuada allowed a smile to touch her lips. "Thank you, Arya svit-kona. I must admit I am relieved you have brought such good tidings, although I am sorry for your losses." She took the proffered map into her hands gently, unscrolling it to have a look. Black x's marked numerous places across Alagaesia; The haddarac, the Beor mountains, one near the out skirts of duweldenvarden, some in the spine, and some just to the west of Surda, near Fienstar. Why would Galbatorix have his troops so widespread? Unless... "I do not think these are normal troops in these positions. I cannot make sense of why Galbatorix would have them so wide spread. My only conclusions is that these troops are a special type, and the special type I'm aware of, are the dragon slayers." Her dark eyes lit with excitment. If the varden knew the positions of these dangerous foes, then they could avoid those areas, and even possibly launch an attack against them. But first, she would need to find out for sure. "We should send scouting parties to these areas to gather more information."
~~~ Eridor arched back his neck in surprise. Arya? He had never met the notorious elf before, and he grew a little apprehensive. Yes, we must hurry back indeed. Flaring his wings wide, he leapt into the air with a powerful bound, pumping his wings furiously to gain alltitude. He angled his flight towards Abernon and flew swiftly.
Elaine laughed. "I know what you mean. When Eridor's hungry, I think thats all he can think about." Arya is at the castle. We're headed back. The message from Eridor surprised her, and also sent a flutter of nerves through her stomach. "Eridor has just informed me that Arya is here?"
~~~ Galbatorix stood beside his throne, inspecting a nail on his finger. The dragon, Shruikan, lay obediently behind him. At the sound of approaching footsteps, he glanced up. His "son" approached the throne, and Galbatorix smiled. Time to put on the facade. He had slipped earlier, decapitating a servant in front of Einar. He hoped the half-elf didn't think too much of it. "My dear boy, thank you for coming." Galbatorix walked away from the throne, approaching Einar with a regal stride. "As you've probably assumed, I haven another task for you." He stopped before Einar and placed a hand on his shoulder. "The rider Murtagh is near Surda. I would like you to fly there and find him. Once you do, trail him until he comes back here. Once you're back, I would like a detailed report of what you saw." He smiled widely, then released Einar's shoulder and walked back to the throne. "I'm sure it's nothing you and Stigandr cannot handle. The stealthiest dragon and rider I have." Flinging back his furred cape, Galbatorix sat down upon the guilded throne. "That is all. I would like you gone no later then the morning."

Sayu pushed her finished bowl of soup away from her. "Yes, I sensed her before, she is meeting with Nasuada at the moment though." Sayu said looking toward the door as if expecting Arya to walk though. "Shall we meet the dragons in the courtyard?" She asked Elaine. She stood from the table and looked over to the chef. "Thank you, the meal was delicious." She said and inclined her head. We will meet you in the courtyard, Arya is still with Nasuada. Sayu said to Kiona
Kiona lifted off after Eridor, she attempted to race him back to the castle, but couldn't get in front no matter how hard she tried. She has probably brought bad news from her travels here. Kiona said to Sayu. She was looking forward to meet Arya. Sayu had told Kiona so much about her, but made her swear not to tell anyone about her being the Queens daughter. As the castle came into view Kiona slowed down, not wanting to alarm any of the sentries on guard. Two dragons rushing toward the castle is not always a good thing to see at night.
~~~~
Murtagh and Thorn crossed the border into Surda just near the foot of the Beor Mountains, as the lowered out of the clouds Thorn snapped his head around Look! He hissed to Murtagh. Murtaghs eyesight was not as good as Thorns, but there was no mistaking the two dragons silhouetted on the horizon. Go higher! Stay in the clouds! Murtagh warned. Thorn pumped his wings hard to gain hight again. He hovered for a few minutes in the clouds before sinking back down again to see if the coast was clear. They both scanned around them, but there was no sign of the dragons. What do you suppose they were doing? Murtagh asked. Maybe looking for slayers? Thorn suggested. Lets get down on the ground, there is more cover there. No sooner had the last word been said that Thorn dove downward, plummeting to earth and a shocking speed. Murtagh was not ready for it and was throw backward in the saddle. He let out a laugh enjoying the rush.
Elaine nodded. "Yes, that is probably a good idea." Scooting back her chair, which screeched in protest against the tiled floor, Elaine stood and bowed to the head chef. "Thank you. An excellent meal for last minutes notice." The large woman smiled and bowed to Sayu and Elaine. "Of course. It was my pleasure." Incling her head to the woman, Elaine made her way out of the kitchen and down the marbled corridor. In only a few minutes, they reached the open courtyard, a cool breeze filling the air. Elaine inhaled deeply, enjoying the freshness of the night. She and Sayu only had to wait a few more minutes before the sound of dragon wings reached them. The cool breeze was replaced with torrential wind as Eridor landed on the trimmed grass, his large wings spread wide. On touchdown, he quickly folded his wings to make room for Kiona. With a smile, Elaine walked to Eridor and placed a hand on his cheek. How was the hunt?
Eridor snaked out his tongue, gently touching Elaine's forhead. I caught nothing, but Kiona did quite well. She killed two deer in one dive. I ate the second. She is quite generous. Nodding, Elaine turned back around to face Sayu and Kiona. "I'm not sure what business Arya has here, but I'm sure she would be interested in meeting two riders. As far as I know, this is her first visit back to Abernon since the battle of the burning plains." She looked towards the castle entrance, then back to Sayu. "I don't know if she'll be coming this way though. Perhaps we should wait for morning?"
Arya's eyes darkened. "Aye. It is what we have assumed as well. I fear that Galbatorix is growing impatient and will do anything to eradicate his enemies, even if they are dragons. I fear for their race." Without pause, she continued. "My kinmen would be happy to assist you in any way. I too, would like to join the scouting parties, if that is acceptable."
*** "Aye. I will do as you command, my King." He bowed low, flattered that the King considered him the best stealth rider. "My Lord." Einar began slowly, unsure if he should have spoken, but did so anyways. "What if I found Murtagh...unsuitable as an Empire Rider?" He chose his words carefully. "He's record shows that he shows mercy towards them...what should I do then, if he goes further then that?" He bowed lower, afraid that he may have spoken out of place.
Kiona landed in the courtyard and pranced over to Sayu feeling very proud of herself. Your hunt went well? Sayu asked smiling at Kiona's happiness. Kiona gave Sayu a blow by blow account of what happened. She finished by saying. Of course I couldnt eat both, so I gave the other to Eridor. She was shaking out of the thrill of the hunt and the chance to meet Arya.
Sayu laid a hand on her trembling side. She considered Elaine's words. "True, and she may want rest after her journey here." Sayu admitted, though she didnt want to. She was keen to see one of her kin again, though she had only been away from Du Weldenvarden for a few days, its the first time she had been away from home and she was missing it already. "Perhaps we should wait till morning." Sayu agreed.
Nasuada inclined her head. "You may do as you as see fit. I think you would be a great asset to the scouting parties." She stood from her chair. "We'll arrange everything in the morning. Most of the soldiers are already asleep, as are the generals. One of the guards will show you to a room." Nasuada fell silent, thinking for a moment before speaking again. "Oh, and, whever you get time, would you mind speaking with the riders staying here? I think they would enjoy meeting you, and I think you may enjoy it as well." She bowed low to the elven princess. "If that is all, then I beg your leave. It has been a long day, and I need some rest." ~~~
Galbatorix wasn't too worried about Murtagh. The boy was sworn to him anyways. The worst he could do is stay away from Uru'baen for a while. Galbatorix waved a hand at Einar. "If you think he plans on doing something drastic, I suggest you confront him. If he still won't listen to reason, well, then, I suppose a little force will be neccessary." He smiled reasuringly. "Don't worry. I'm sure everything will be well." He waved his hand towards the door. "Now, please go. The longer we sit here and chat, the further away he gets."
~~~
That allright with you, Eridor? The gray dragon winked at her. "Allright, till' morning then." Elaine turned her eyes upon Sayu. "I will show you to your room, then. It'll be in the same hall as mine. Nasuada persuaded King Orrin to set up a whole wing for riders." She smiled, glad that the varden leader had done so. Soldiers and nobles could be annoying if they stayed in the same corridor. Waving goodnight to Eridor, Elaine set off into the castle.
Eridor eyed Kiona. We dragons usually sleep anywhere we see fit. For example, I think I'll just retire here for the night. With a groan, Eridor curled into a ball, his tail wrapped around him like a cat. You may go anywhere you please. But I would suggest sticking close to the city at least.

"I would enjoy meeting the new Riders. Aye, it is late. I will meet you in the morning to discuss the scouting parties and perhaps the training that the Riders are engaged in as well." She slipped in as she turned on her heels to leave.
*** Einar felt slightly foolish. "Aye, my Lord. I will do as you bid." Einar bowed and exited the throne room. He made way to his quarters and had some servants prepare several packs for his journey. After about 15 minutes, Einar was once again placing a saddle on Stigandr and the packs of food and bedding onto the sides. Stigandr yawned, tired that it was night and annoyed that they would be traveling again once they had arrived. I feel that we are being set away on a unneccesary mission. Its like we are baby sitting. Stigandr whined and yawned loudly. We must do as the king orders. Besides, I feel that Murtagh and Thorn are consistently trying to find ways to betray us. He never did understand Father's vision. I still don't. The man is mad. Einar shot a dark look at his dragon. He is not! Don't ever say that. He has taken me in when I had no one and has given me a purpose in this world. If that is not the actions of love, then I don't know what is. Stigandr sighed, Forgive me for angering you. It's all right. Let's just go. Einar climbed onto the saddle and Stigandr took flight. They rode through the night to Surda, hoping to catch up to Murtagh by mid morning.

"Thank you, I would appreciate that." Sayu said to Elaines offer of showing her to her room. She turned to Kiona and looked deep into one of her red eyes. Stay here with Eridor. At least I know you will be safe then. She wrapped her arms around Kionas neck. This would be the first night since they were bonded that they had spent a night away from each other. The thought of it sent chills down Sayu's spine. Don't worry about us my dear. Kiona said, humming deep in her chest. Sayu finally let go of Kiona and followed Elaine to her room. Kiona curled up like a big cat and closed her eyes. Thank you for the kindness and hospitality you have shown us today. She said to Eridor. No doubt we would have been walking lost without you both.
~~~~
As soon as Thorn touched down Murtagh jumped off his back ready for any danger. Come, let us get closer to Aberon. We will find a place to rest once we are closer. He said to Thorn. The stocky dragon had trouble on the ground, he was better suited to the sky because of his small legs. But he still managed to keep apace with Murtagh easily enough. Once they were about 4 leagues from the city they found a gully between two small hills, there was a stream trickling down the gully from which Murtagh filled his water skin and Thorn took a few mouthfuls of water. We should rest here for the night I think. It has enough cover for both of us. Thorn agreed by laying down and putting his head on the ground. Murtagh collected some twigs and bits of wood for a fire. Once he arranged the twigs he muttered "Brisingr" The small fire started at once, and he began chopping up some meat and leeks for soup. Once it was cooked and he had eaten his fill he doused the fire and lay down next to Thorn. What should our next move be tomorrow? He asked Thorn. Thorn didn't answer him, only made a grunting noise. Murtagh smiled at him, closed his eyes, and fell asleep almost as quick as the dragon did.
Eridor replied to Kiona with closed eyes. He was nearly half asleep. Of course, it was no trouble at all. Our pleasure. A trail of smoke flew out of his nostrils as he exhaled deeply, sleep overcoming him.
Elaine walked down the castle halls and corridors at a medium pace. She was eager for sleep, but also anxious about Arya. Such a prestigious elf within Abernon castle was not unheard of, but it was rare. Would she consider Eridor and I unfit for the status of dragon and rider? After a moment of uneasy thought, she brought Sayu and herself into the riders wing. "Here we are." She walked up to a door on the left of the hall. "This will be your room whenever you visit Abernon." Elaine smiled and bowed her head. "Thank you for the lessons today. I will continue to practice expanding my senses." Turning, she pointed to a door a little ways down the hall. "That is where I stay, if you need me." She inclined her head once more, then turned for her room.
"Thankyou Elaine. You and Eridor have been a most welcomed host today. I shall see you in the morning." Sayu opened the door into her room and went straight for the bed. She took off her sword and laid it on the end of the bed. She lay down and put her hands behind her head thinking about the last few days. How far her and Kiona had travled, and what they have discovered in such a short time. The thought of it all threatened to over whealm Sayu. She could feel that Kiona was still awake in the courtyard, so she gathered up her sword again and snuck out of the room. She made her way back to the courtyard and quietly as she could. Once there, Sayu looked at Eridor to make sure he was asleep then she tapped Kiona on the leg and she lifted a wing so Sayu could lay next to her warm belly. Kiona stretched her wing over the top of Sayu and hummed deep in chest. Goodnight, little one. Kiona said. Sayu smiled and fell into her waking sleep.
