Mar sighed. He truly wanted to help, but he couldn't, and he could not speak for another.
"I'm not sure," he said, filling a waterskin from a small spring. "I honestly hope so."

Kalri continued to walk quietly battling her demons. As she came to a small grove of trees, she sat beneath one of them. The shade of the leaves felt good upon her skin. She thought about what Caleb had said to her. The thoughts raced through her mind. Thoughts of her father, her life, Caleb. Confused, she lay upon the ground to watch the clouds drift lazily across the sky. Sleep came upon her silently. Her mind continued its internal struggle as her body succumbed to the stress of the day.

"Mar, what is her problem? Her father is so dark that it carried into his daughter?" Caleb asked.

Mar looked sharply at Caleb. It was not his place to mention how Kalri came to be, but he felt an obligation, since he needed to know what he was getting into.
"She was concieved by the King and Nashante, the leader of the Seithr Witches Coven. Galbatorix is mainly the cause, though I cannot say how. That is yet another question that she would have to answer."

Kalri continued to sleep. Her dreams full of darkness, tormented her.

Mar stood, looking off into the direction she had gone.
"I'm going to go get her," he told Caleb, following Kalri's footsteps in the earth.

Kalri suddenly felt as if she was falling into a pit of black flames. The dream so real it shook her from her sleep. Sitting up, she looked into the sky, trying to figure how long she had been gone. Mar would come looking for her soon. She would have to get moving. She didn't want to hurt either one of them anymore.

Mar saw Kalri a little ways away. It looked as if she had just woken from a nightmare. He picked up his pace, hoping to reach her before she did anything stupid.
"Kalri" he shouted to her, running through the trees.

Kalri heard the shout and knew it was Mar. She waited for him. She needed to talk to him and to find out if Caleb was okay. She really had no idea what to do. Standing under the old tree, she watched as Mar approached.
There was a loud crack high above her as a large branch came crashing down through the other branches. Kalri looked up toward the sound but it was too late. The large branch landed on top of her, pinning her beneath it. Blood streamed from her forehead.

Mar rushed to Kalri's side, throwing the log off of her out of sheer fear. He knew if she was hurt, or killed, Galbatorix would kill him too. He searched her body and mind, making sure she would live. Picking her up, he ran with as much speed as he could, back to Caleb.

Sabonth could barely feel Kalri. The drugs within her stilled their bond. She could feel that Kalri was different, as if surrounded by fog. She reached out to Mar. 'What has happened Mar? I can barely sense her. It feels like she is in a sea of mist, lost.'

Elyria approached on horseback. The chestnut mare whinnied softly as she watched the man running with great speed, carrying a woman. She could not make out his features but something about him felt...familiar. She followed, cautiously.

Mar ran through the forest, nimbly dodging branches and logs. He made it quickly back to where he had left Caleb. He set her down in the ground, near Caleb. 'Sabonth, some kind of branch fell and hit her on the head. She is bleeding from the temples and unconscious. Something is different, in her mind. I can't explain it, but it is." Mar took a rag and rinsed it in the small pool, then wiped the blood away from Kalri's face.
"Caleb, I am not so good with healing. Could you please heal her again?"

"Of course I can. I'da came with you, but you took off so fast I lost you." Caleb said. Bending down, he felt the turmoil in Kalri's mind, but it was whole he decided. He quickly healed her head and other injuries. "The drug will wear of in an hour or so, then she will either kill me or let me live. Which do you think Mar?" Caleb said.

Mar smiled, looking at Caleb, then feeling a presence nearby that felt familiar and comforting.
"Well, for your sake, hope she likes you," he said with an even brighter smile. The presence had moved closer and he fully recognized it now. Standing, he scanned the area, trying to find her. He did not care if his excitement made Caleb wonder, he needed to see her, at least see her. 'Where are you?' he wondered in his mind.

Elyria drew closer. As she neared the group she felt the presence of one so strongly from her past that her heart nearly stopped. Her breath came quick as she saw Mar. She spurred the chestnut mare to reach him. Approaching the group, she lept from the horse into him, kissing him softly. "I knew it was you!"

Kalri slowly roused looking warily around her. A slight panic began to build. None of these people looked familiar to her though they somehow felt familiar. Sitting up she looked into Caleb's eyes. "What is going on? Who are you?" Her voice was soft and sweet as she spoke.
