Taran just shrugged his shoulders. He owed allegiance to no one, not the Varden nor the Empire. "Well, I hope you have a safe journey. I'm not sure where I will go, since I don't have a true place to call home. Maybe somewhere in the Beors....or the Spine," he thought aloud.

She looked at him, a look of sadness upon her face. "If it is introspection and reflection you seek, I'd try the desert. I always see things clearer in the desert heat. Kind of a vision quest, if you will." She smiled at him as she turned her gaze to look for Jeriah. 'She must be meditating on the crystal's message to her.'
"How long do you think you will remain on the island?" She looked around not seeing the raiders any longer and started laughing. Reaching out to Domia she asked about the ship. 'The men took off in the ship hours ago!' he replied laughing. Jeriah's act of kindness had not had the effect on the men that she had hoped.
"Taran? I hate to tell you this but Jeriah's reformation of the raiders didn't work. Domia tells me they sailed off in their ship hours ago!" She tried hard not to laugh.

Taran smiled, nodding his head. "I know. I let them go," he said, laughing slightly. "It seems Jeriah's magic worked on me instead."

Elyria laughed at him softly. So he had softened under the girl's influence. "Well whenever you decide to leave this island, Domia and I would be happy to give you a lift. We'll take you where ever you desire to go."

Taran laughed again, the thought of him letting the ones who killed his crew, his family, go was...strange. He had never done that before, and it bothered him. 'Why did I do that?' he thought. 'Because you had little reason not to,' his dragon said. Taran jumped slightly, forgetting that the little dragon could hear everything he thought. 'True, but still...it feels strange. I feel I will regret the decision later.' He let the topic drop, instead taking a map of Alagaesia from his pack. "We are here," he told Elyria, pointing to the map. "We have the entire western coast to pick from."

"Okay. Well you pick. I have no immediate plans."

He thought hard for a minute. He could not go back to Tierm, since the merchants would want to know what happened to the ship. He could go to Surda, but then the Varden would try to pull him to their cause. So, it would have to be the Spine. "Could you take us to the Spine?" he asked, pointing to a spot near a small village called Carvahall.

Once Oranthor was gone, Jeriah sighed feeling lonely. She sat down on the grass and looked up at the sky. The clouds were building and it looked like it might rain. Once cloud looked like a boy with longish hair and loving eyes. She sighed, missing Lathem. Where are you, love? she asked, a tear slipping down her cheek. OOC: there she goes crying again. lol.

Elyria looked at him, her gaze narrowing slightly confused. "Why near Carvahall? There is nothing left of that village, but if that is where you want to go, so be it!" It had been awhile since she had been home in the Spine. She looked forward to the idea of returning. "We'll leave whenever you are ready."

Taran stood from the map, still looking at it. "Because that is where all this started, and it is currently free of the Varden and Empire, those that would want to enlist my service. I think we should wait for Jeriah to return before we depart. I would feel bad to leave without saying goodbye."

"Hmm. Maybe while in the spine, I could look in on my parents. It has been a long time since I have been home." She thought for a moment then added. "We shall wait for Jeriah before we leave. Maybe her business with the crystal is concluded and she will want to accompany us." She sat back on the ground under the shade of a tall tree.

Taran sat on the flat ground, leaning slightly on Adurthil.

Jeriah watched the sky for a while, confused feelings rising inside of her. Her mind was on Lathem again, and she wished she had at least some idea where he went. She finally called for Oranthor to take her back to the camp when it started to rain. She smiled, suddenly feeling the urge to dance. She loved the rain. SHe loved the thunder and the lightning. By the time she and Oranthor arrived at the camp, they were soaking wet. Oranthor shook himself off, but Jeriah decided to stay soaked. She walked up to Taran and Elyria.

Taran stood as Jeriah approached them. "Jeriah, we are leaving for the spine and wanted to say goodbye, or find out if you wanted to join us," he said with a smile. "What do you say? Want to come with us?"

Jeriah frowned a little. "Leaving already?" She found herself wishing they would stay a while longer, but if they had to go, they had to go. "I think we'll stay here a while longer. I don't know why, but I just feel like I ought to." She looked up at the sky as a beautiful bolt of lightning flashed across they sky. She smiled at the magnificent sight.
