Lathem nodded and kissed her forehead. "I just wish I could show you how much I love you."
Lathem sighed silently. I'm thinking she's going to let Kyrron bring her back to Galbatorix...but why must she cause herself so much pain?

Jeriah smiled as he kissed her forhead, wrapping her arms around him. "You have no need to, love," she said, putting her head against his chest, "I've known how much you loved me since you made my house for me in the Spine." Oranthor continued gazing at Lathem and Jeriah together. I am afraid you may be right, he said, Still, we can't know for certain. Since you've been gone, she's picked up this nasty habit of not thinking before she acts. I have been afraid she would get herself into trouble over this someday.

Lathem smiled softly, remembering the moment he showed her. He held her tight for a moment, then untangled his arms from hers. "I can't stay here knowing that you're doing this." Lathem hesitated, gritting his teeth at what he was about to do. "Go and do it, I don't want to see. But know that if I didn't love you so much, I would have had Zamah hold you down with his paw so that you could never leave my sight." Lathem leaned forward and kissed her forehead, then bounded up Zamah's leg to the saddle on his back. Tears wet Lathem's eyes as Zamah took off, leaving Jeriah and Oranthor beside Ganer's hut. (Oh shoot! I forgot about Ganer! lol)

OOC: lol, isn't he sleeping on Zamah or something? lol Jeriah felt tears fall down her own face as she watched Lathem leave. Before he was out of mental reach, she sent him this one singular thought: I love you, Lathem. She turned to Oranthor. Wait outside of the capital for news of me. I must go do this alone. Oranthor lowered his head near hers and licked her cheek ever so lightly. I will miss you, small one, he told her. And I you, Jeriah said, giving him a hug. Now go. Go before either of us change our minds. Go! Oranthor flew away. Jeriah felt her connection with him recede, and the loneliness filled her heart. The weight of it drove her to her knees. Just then, Kyrron came out of the trees, looking as menacing as ever. She made no move to stop him as he hit her hard over the head and all went black around her. THE STORY CONTINUES ON "PAYING THE PRICE..."
