As Elianora and Narth walked, the ugly city of Alagaesia appeared in sight. Narth nickered and shook his head. "I don't want to go in either," Eli replied. "But we have to." She grimaced. Nasty rumors of Dras-Leona circulated quite frequently in Alagaesia, and she believed half of them
When they got closer, they saw a lone figure walking toward them, head bent. Elianora pulled Narth into a large shadow as she watched the figure approach. A man. Strange. What was he doing away from the city?
Then a shrill shriek shattered the night (ooc: is it night?) and something blue dropped from the sky, landing in front of the startled pair. How could you leave me like that, Eli? I've been tearing our hut apart looking for you! Soranai yelled. I thought we were bonded! Never to be parted!
"We are! We are! Just calm down!" Eli wrapped both arms around Sora's shaking head. "But we must be quiet now, because --"
She was broken off by a tenor voice. "Excuse me, miss, but can I help you?' Elianora looked up and into the dark eyes of the man.
Oops, Sora thought. Sorry.

Taran held Aethelwyne tight against his chest, his love for her seeming to effect the flow of the wind itself. 'I love you,' he thought as his emotions flooded through their connection. Doc flew on without struggle, his muscles growing accustomed to carrying an extra person and Adurthil.

Galbatorix sighed, not even noticing Nashante's abasance. His daughters travel brought a crazed sort of happiness to him. When she killed, he adored her even more. For a moment, he was certain that she, Kalri, would probably be able to dispose of the Seithr Aethelwyne herself. However, that might not be so. It was not worth risking the life of the only thing he loved, well, besides being all powerful. At Kalri's concerned question, Galbatorix's eyebrows drew down in a fierce frown. Flickers of black magic writhed around his hands, much like his daughters. A family trait, it would seem.
"That Aethelwyne is a clever witch, much stronger than I had anticipated. Much more clever." He clenched his hands into fists, recalling the knife as he watched Kalri touch the deep gouge. "Yes, she had come very close. Fortunately, I've placed wards around the window. Anyone trying to get through there now will recieve a dreadfull surprise." A throaty chuckle curled up his throat at the thought. Relaxing, he began stroking his daughter's head, smoothing down her thick hair. "Come, let us no longer dwell on such things. Tell me, how is Sabonth?" He smiled at the thought of Kalri's dragon. That was the only one who seemed to understand him.

She could feel Taran against her as she slept, holding her, loving her through their bond. A smile on her lips as she rested. The day had been hectic and she was more tired than she had thought.
‘Aethelwyne?’ Doc touched her mind, waking her. ‘What is it Doc?’ she asked sleepily. Opening her eyes, she saw that night had fallen. We are almost to Dras-Leona.’ ‘Okay. Thanks Doc. Put down just outside the city. We’ll make our way in on foot to meet Elianora.’ Doc slowly glided down, outside of the city as she asked. He landed softly and she slid down from his back. Looking up at Taran she smiled. “I love you my darling and I wouldn’t change anything about you but we need to go inside the city in disguise. You should probably change out of your armor for what I have in mind.” She had a mischievous grin on her face and her violet eyes twinkled in the light of the moon. As he watched she waved her hand across her body, but not yet her face. “I thought this might not attract the wrong attention. Everyone will be on lookout for us but not for this.” Her slim, athletic figure changed as he watched. Her flowing gown grew to accommodate her very rounded stomach. Placing her hands over her very pregnant looking guise, she rubbed her stomach and asked, “What do you think? Will they recognize me?”
************************************************
Nashante tracked Aethelwyne to where the lovers and another had met. ‘This third person that travels with them has great power. I cannot find trail of her past this clearing.’ She looked around the area and found where a dragon had landed and tramped the ground then taken off again. ‘I’m getting close. By nightfall I shall be upon them.’
*************************************************
Kalri let the magic fade as her father asked her about Sabonth. “I don’t know what I’m going to do with her sometimes Father, really. She seems to have developed an affinity for peasants. I told her that nobleman would have much more tender meat but she said they just grovel. She likes the little bit of fight in the peasant’s before she kills them. Such a nasty habit, playing with your food!” She laid her head against his knee as she wrapped her arms around his leg. “I missed you terribly! It’s just not as much fun wreaking havoc without you!” She let out a heavy sigh. Sitting up and looking at him with a question on her mind, she looked at him with her dark brown eyes as the gold in them danced. “Father. When we have the witch and the elf, can I have him? I haven’t played with an elf in forever. The last one only lasted four days before he died. It really sucked.” Her face showed a great disappointment.

Salian watched the bonded pair carefully, no expression in his eyes and face. Elianora gave him a cautious look. "Good evening, stranger," she said.
Sal smirked, a gesture that annoyed Soranai. "Perhaps you would like to tell me why you are out here, near Dras-Leona, with an obciously stolen horse and a dragon?"
Soranai growled. Tell him nothing, she warned Elianora. I sense evil about him. Eli nodded, half heeding her dragon. She cast her magic about the man, trying to gauge him. After a minute, she said, "I am on my way to my master's manse in the city. The dragon is not your concern."
Salian smiled. "Perhaps I can help you out there. I know every manse in Dras. And you're dragon is my concern." He sent magic out to the girl's spirit, but two hard walls surrounded her entire being, one from the dragon, one from her. Though one seemed young, as befitted the dragon, the other felt old, ancient.
Elianora gasped at the touch to her spirit while Soranai growled. That man! His Powers! they both thought. "Maybe you can help us," she said. "We need your powerd."
The slaver thought for a moment, his eyes turning dark blue. He didn't know if they were Varden or not, but he didn't care just then. He would get to know this lovely stranger first. "Accompany me back to the inn I'm staying at--we can talk there."
Eli nodded, telling Sora to stay out of sight, and followed the man down the hill to Dras-Leona. Be careful, Soranai warned. I do not trust him.

Taran lept from Doc's back, landing softly before Aethelwyne. Taking his armor off, dressed only in his tight pants, he smiled at her. "How is this, my love? Or do you think it is still too much?" he said, a small twinkle in his eye.

"I still think that to be... too much love, but I fear you should probably put a little more on." She gave him a sly smile as she moved her pregnant form closer to him.

Putting his hand on her shoulder, Taran looked deep into her eyes. Frozen, he could not move. A scene played before his eyes, but it was not actual. He reached out with his hand to touch the house, but could not. Walking through the wall, he entered an open room, with a man helping to give birth to his child. He watched in horror, yet joy, when he saw the woman to be Aethelwyne, and the man to be himself. Two daughters were born, both identical. He smiled when he saw himself and Aethelwyne, but they were not as they were now. He could feel her love for him, the same emotions he could feel now, but there was something different about them. As he reached for one of the children, he fell forward into a dark room, surrounded by many chains and instruments of pain. Standing, a dark figure threw him into a cage, then proceeded to use magic to torture him, threatening Aethelwyne and their children. As the woman pulled back for a hit, Galbatorix burst through the door, shouting to her to stop. "What is it, Father?" she asked him.
Taran woke on the ground, shivering from his lack of clothing. Opening his eyes, he could only see blackness at first.

Aethelwyne knelt to him in her pregnant guise. Removing her cloak she placed it around him as she pulled his head into her lap and stroked his hair. Concern flooding every inch of her. "Taran What is it?"

As his eyes adjusted, Taran could see Aethelwyne holding him in her lap. He reached up to stroke the side of her face. "Something that is either wonderful, or horrible," he told her, opening up his mind for her to see what he had seen. "Look, love. See for yourself, for it concerns you as well."

Aethelwyne watched as the scene he showed her unfolded. She dismissed her guise and returned to her form as she looked at Taran with tears in her eyes. Such joy and her worst nightmare, all in one. "Taran...I..I" She reached out to him. Not able to find words.

Taran forced himself to sit up. Taking her in his arms, he held her close. "Love, there is nothing better in the world if this is true. I would gladly offer myself for you...and our daughters."

She opened her bond with him freely. No longer trying to suppress the power that it held. Free to acknowledge the truth that she had known somehow but dared not to believe. Taking his hands, she placed them over her belly. The energy flowed causing both of their marks to glow brightly, warmly. The two presences she held within her.

Taran could feel the life within Aethelwyne, feel their love grow. Tears filled his eyes, dripping softly from his cheeks. 'Children, I am here. Always,' he thought. "I never thought this could ever happen to me. Aethelwyne, you have given me more than I could ever have possibly hoped for," he said, tears in his eyes and a smile on his lips.

Aethelwyne reached to touch his face. Stroking his cheeks, looking into the deep green of his eyes, she leaned in to kiss him softly. "It is you, my love, who have given me hope and happiness beyond my wildest dreams. You have changed me and I am forever yours." They held each other close and enjoyed just being together.
In the back of her mind the last of the scene played out. 'Fate is not set in stone. It is fluid as the ocean itself. This will not come to pass. I will not allow it.' Allowing the thoughts to fade she turned her attention back to Taran.
