Elianora walked in with her graceful, light elven step. She sat in the chair Ferlan proferred her. AS she looked in her love's eyes, she noticed a sort of. . . . sadness, or concern within them. She leaned toward him, her face also concerned. "What troubles you this wondrous eve? Perhaps I can help."

Ferlan sat and looked away a little when she asked what was wrong. "It's...it's nothing," he said. He didn't want to dwell on it, nor did he want to make Eli upset by it at all. Then he sighed. He just couldn't lie to her. "I'm just...regretting some recent choices I've made."

"Like what?" she said gently, turning his face back toward her. She smell his foresty scent from where she was. A pleasant, refreshing scent.

Ferlan sighed, frustrated with himself for his past actions. "Like...back at Helgrind, when I rescued you...I let the darkness get the better of me. As a result, I almost killed that man."

"Yes, you did. But you conquered it Ferlan. I could feel it. Though your inner darkness is a thing of evil, and it almost killed Salian and Torlynden, it also saved me," Eli said gently, leaning closer. her face was inches from Ferlan's , her eyes showing with a faint, soft light. "You saved me and Soranai." Her eyes felt wet as she said it, and they shown with gratitude.

"But you don't understand," Ferlan said, "I wanted to kill that guy for what he did to you. I vowed to myself long ago that I would never again pick up a weapon to harm another. So, as if the universe wished to spite me, I became a weapon. Had you not been in danger, I would have gladly let the darkness take control and kill that guy." He put his head in his hands, hiding himself from the shame. "I want to help people, not hurt them," he whispered.

Elianora removed his hands from his face and lifted his head. She kissed him, a silent reassurance. Then she said, "Ferlan, you are not alone anymore. And the universe can hardly be so petty. You have done naught but searched for old, hidden treasures, which, perhaps, should have been kept hidden. I have faith in you Ferlan. The only reason why you were angry was on my behalf." She kissed him again, wrapping her arms around his slim form.

Ferlan kissed her back lovingly, then looked into her eyes. "But what if one day I lose control and someone does die?" he asked her, leaning his forhead against hers and staring into her eyes.

"Have faith," was all that Elianora said. "You can gain complete control, I know you can. With our knowledge and wisdom combined, we will find a complete cure. Now hush, my love, and don't fret. We are together, engaged to be married. Relax a bit." She laid her head on his shoulder, with Fethrfricai perched on her head. The bird twittered at Ferlan in agreement with Nora's words.
"I wonder when dinner will be ready," Nora said after a moment. "I am quite hungry now."

Ferlan smiled at her words, the sound of them giving him strength. He was glad for her company, and that of Fethrfricai. He stroked her back gently. "I hope it'll be ready soon, too," he said to her dinner comment, "I'm starved."

Aethelwyne began preparing a feast. At least as much as she could. She wasn't really the homemaker type. She called to Doc. 'Doc can you take me to the forest? I need to gather some herbs and fruit from below.' Doc acknowledged her meeting her outside of Sanctuary.
They flew down the mountain to the forest below and Aethelwyne dismounted to begin gathering supplies for the feast. In her haste, she forgot to leave Taran a note telling him where she was going. 'It'll be ok. We won't be gone long.'
She took her bag and began to fill it. Her mind was filled with many thoughts. Taran. The children. Eli and Ferlan. Taran. The children. Taran.
The witches began to gather in the trees. Ten of them had been travelling through the forest when they happened upon her by chance. Aethelwyne felt them as they closed in on her. Cursing herself for not paying attention and for leaving Sanctuary unarmed, she called to Doc. 'Doc can you feel them? Look and tell me how many. I count ten.' Doc gave a mighty roar to reassure Aethelwyne that he was with her and let the witches know that she was not totally alone.
'That's all I can see. I don't feel anymore than that. Are you armed?' Aethelwyne rolled her eyes as she prepared for the response she would get when she told him. Doc roared as he scolded her in her mind. 'Really not helping right now Doc! Can you get in here?' The forest was dense and there was no where for him to land.
'Doc its okay. Just get Taran!' 'NO I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU!' Doc cried out across the silence of the falling night.
'Doc you can't get in and I can hold them until you get back. NOW GO!' Aethelwyne watched as the witches took up position. They had yet to make a move on her. 'I hope they hurry.' she thought.
Aethelwyne reached out to Taran through their bond. Her mark glowed brightly upon her chest as she prepared herself for the attack.

Taran felt Aethelwyne through their bond, knowing something was wrong. He heard Doc roar as he ran outside. 'Doc, what is it? Where is Aethelwyne?' 'She is being attacked, she needs your help!' Taran nodded, making sure he had his sword and bought a few shorted blades. He leaped atop Doc, not strapping in his legs. 'Alright, let's go!' he shouted with his mind. 'Adurthil, I am going to save Aethe, follow us.' A loud roar was his response as Doc flew off into the sky, heading towards Aethelwyne.

Aethelwyne watched as the witches surrounded her. All of them moving on her at once. 'There smarter than the dragonslayers. This could be a little tricky.' She watched as they closed ranks on her, narrowing the gap between her and them. She didn't see any opening yet. They knew she was unarmed.

Taran held both the short swords in his hands, standing on the back of Doc. 'Take me in close, I'll do the rest.' The dragon did not give any sign that he acknowledged him, but Taran knew. When they were nearly directly above Aethelwyne, Taran fell from Doc's back, falling safely through the trees to land on a witch, crushing the life from her. He sliced the two nearest him with the swords, then tossed them to Aethelwyne, drawing his own sword. "Bring it, you wenches!!!!" he shouted, moving closer to Aethelwyne.

Aethelwyne felt Taran before she saw him. She caught the swords he threw to her and began her fight dance as she caught a witch coming behind her just below the ribs, puncturing her lung. Spinning in a flurry of movement she took out the two next to her. Jumping above another she landed behind her and slit her throat before turning to face the next. She was a little to slow as the witches blade caught her before she saw it coming. The knife landing between the 4th and 5th ribs on her right side. She felt the pain of the blade but continued to fight.
