Taran fought with a frenzied haste to protect his wife and children, cutting down one witch after another. He felt, but did not see, Aethelwyne get stabbed. The pain erupted in his side, sending him to the ground as he sliced his sword through the last witch near him. His breath was short, pained. He did not understand it. He felt her pain for her, but could not do anything to lessen it.

Aethelwyne watched as Taran fell the last witch. With the threat gone, she fell to the ground. The blood pouring from her wound and her breath coming in short painful bursts. She saw him fall to the ground. She fought to get to him. As she reached him she touched him "Are you okay love? Are you injured.' Her injuries were too great for her to form words. As she looked at him, she fell beside him on the ground. 'I love you Taran. I love you in this world and I will love you in the next.' Her eyes closed as her breathing became shallow, almost still. Her heart slowed, the mark upon her, Taran's mark, glowed then slowly began to fade.

Ferlan sat up suddenly as he felt much pain near him. In haste, he stood up and grabbed his bag nearby, which he had dropped on the floor when he came him. Then he ran out the door to fine Aethelwyne and Taran lying on the ground amidst many bloody corpses of the killed witches. "Are you two all right?" he asked.

Elianora followed him, moving gracefully through the trees. She knelt by Aethelwyne and took her pulse, and then checked to see if she was breathing. Then she checked Taran. "They are both unconscious," she informed Ferlan, taking some herbs from a pouch at her waist. She pulled water from a plant nearby and stirred the water with the herbs, mixing them in the air. Then she applied the thick salve to Aethe's side, repeating a poem she had learned in the Ancient Language for healing.

Ferlan felt the wound at Aethe's side as Eli began to heal it. Though the wound was not life-threatening, there was still something that wasn't right about it. He looked on the ground for the weapon used to stab her. When he found it, he observed it carefully. There was Aethe's blood on it, but there was something else. A clear liquid. Getting some of it on his finger, he sniffed it. Then he touched it to his tounge. Tastes like...Collonberry poison. But that doesn't make sense. It wouldn' harm her. The only ones it effects is... Ferlan paled and turned to Nora. "Nora, we need to get her back inside, now!" he said. If Aethelwyne was with child, the baby was now in grave danger. OOC: dun dun DUN! me and my evil plots twists. lol

Taran felt his heart fading, the beating becoming slower and weaker with each passing second. Suddenly, a faint light shown in his mind and his heart began to speed up. He was aware of things around him, though he could do nothing but watch.

Aethelwyne reached out to Taran through their bond. Something was wrong. She could feel it. Her mind screamed out to Taran about the children. The children were in danger. She could feel her connection with them slowly fading. Tears streamed from her eyes as she reached out, grabbing Ferlans clothes, she pleaded with him. "Save them. Whatever it takes!"

Ferlan heard the desparation in Aethelwyne's voice as she begged him to save her children. "All right, just calm down. I'm going to have to drain the poison from your blood and I don't want you to lose too much." He sent calming images to her mind to help her relax as he made an incision on her stomach. Ferlan sensed that the poison was being released, but there was also a lot of blood. He did his best to slow the bleeding and draw more poison to the surface. When most of the poison was out of her system, he closed the wound, having done his best. He could only hope now that he had gotten enought out. Only time would tell.

Taran was shaken from his delirious state as Aethelwyne called out to him. He took her hand in his, sending her images and emotions of his love for her. He would not leave her side, no matter what happened. 'I'm here, my love,' he told her through their bond. 'I am here.'

Elianora stood by, helping Ferlan by trying to sooth her friends. She hummed an Ancient song to them. As Ferlan worked, Elianora lit a flame in her hand. She breathed on them to see if Aethe and her children would be all right. Two graceful figures appeared in the flames, a young man and a young woman. Eli watched in amazement as the two figures in the flames grasped hands. The fire flashed once, and disappeared.
Urgently, Elianora leaned down so her face hovered inches from Aethelwyne's. "Aethe, your children will be all right. They are going to live!" she said in a low, soothing voice.

Aethelwyne felt Taran's love for her flowing across their bond. She held his hand. Ferlan sent her thoughts of comfort and reassurance as he cut into her stomach. She squeezed Taran's hand harder as she felt the blade open her. She heard Eli's words that everything would be all right. She felt the blood draining from her, weakening her.
She felt her bond with Taran slipping. Fading. She passed out, the loss of blood exacting its price upon her.

Taran screamed out in terror as Aethelwyne lost consciousness. Tears fell freely from his eyes, as he took her head in his arms. He whispered old songs of healing in the ancient language as he kissed her forehead. "Don't you leave me," he said softly. "I need you, my love."

Ferlan sat back, exhausted from his adrenaline rush and his work. "She'll be fine, Taran...She just needs to rest now. Elianora says the children will be well, too. I would suggest, however, bringing her back to the house. We don't know if anone else may be hiding from us."

Aethelwyne felt Taran's fear, his love. She heard his songs as if over a great distance. She reached to him, trying hard to send him her love, not knowing if he would hear her.

Taran felt a faint echo he knew to be Aethelwyne. He smiled, hearing Ferlan's words and hearing that echo. "Yes, we should take her inside," he said, gently picking her up in his arms.
