Aethelwyne felt as he picked her up, taking her home. Her soul rejoiced in the feel of his arms. Safety, love, their home. That was all she dreamed of at this moment. To be with him and their children in the home they had created.

Taran quickly took Aethelwyne to their room, laying her softly on the comfortable sheets. "You are safe now, my love," he said, leaning down to kiss her forehead.

Aethelwyne opened her eyes to look into his. "I am so sorry Taran. I left without my weapons and put our children in danger!" Still weak, she touched his mind. Her feelings were a confusion of fear, love, panic, apology. She could not sort them out.

Taran smiled at her, lightly kissing her cheek. "There is no need to be sorry, my love," he said quietly. "We are safe now, and everything is alright." He sent her feelings of calm and love, pictures of them playing with their children in time to come.

Aethelwyne was tired. All she wanted was to sleep but she was afraid. 'Lay with me? I am so tired. I just want to feel your arms around me. Lay in the safety of your love.'

Taran crawled under the sheets, putting his arms around Aethelwyne. He laid his head on her shoulder, listening to her breathing. He smiled, knowing she would be alright. 'I love you more than anything in the world,' he told her through their bond as he lay there with her, safely in her presence.

Aethelwyne felt his love. His arms around her brought her comfort, a sense of safety. The tears fell silently as she thought about the attack. She sensed the children within her. They seemed fine despite her condition. Ferlan and Elianora had saved them all. Her love for Taran and the children shone within her.
As she lay in his arms, her resolve strengthened. 'Enough running! We take the fight to our enemies, starting with the coven. I have a debt to repay Nashante.' She would eliminate all threats to them and their children at any cost.
No longer able to keep her eyes open, Aethelwyne succumbed to the strength of the sleep that took her. Her dreams and thoughts returned to more pleasant visions. She saw the images Taran had sent her of them playing with the children. The scene made her happy. They three most important people in the world to her.

Taran let the feeling of Aethelwyne in his arms lull him to sleep. He dreamed of their many nights together, and of when they would be able to play with their children in safety and comfort.

Aethelwyne stirred slowly. She felt Taran sleeping beside her but did not want to wake him. She tried to sit up but was too weak to do it. She lay back down and watched him as he slept.

Elianora watched Taran and Aethelwyne return to the caves with soft eyes. A small, thoughtful smile lifted her lips. Memoris from her childhood came back to her as she stood. Sweet memories.
Still smiling, Elianora walked up to a tree and put her hand on it, feeling the life within. Then she put her ear against it and sighed. Unknown peace filled her, regardless of the dead bodies around her.
Then she remembered the witches. "Ferlan," she said, frowning. "What should we do with the bodies?" She gestured to a dead witch.

Ferlan shook his head. "I wish they had not been killed in the first place. They need to either be burned or buried. I do not know the traditional funeral arrangments for the Seithrs." He looked on the face on a dead witch. There was a looked of fear in her eyes. She knew from the moment Taran and Aethelwyne began fighting them together that she could not live through it. He turned away. Such expressions he never wished to see again, not after all the fighting he did before. He sighed and looked back at Nora, his sorrow showing in his eyes.

Elianora walked back to Ferlan and hugged him, closing her eyes. "All things happen for a purpose. Whether it be for good or ill, we cannot always tell," she said. "Though I, too, wish that they had not been killed, it was for some reason beyond my knowledge."

"No one deserves to die like this, though," he told her. "I should know. I killed many people who had no chance against me. I fought against Galbatorix's men when he first went mad and turned against us. So many men died by my hand, who should have lived full and pleasant lives. "That's why I first left to live in seclusion, to study magic. I wanted to heal people and never hurt them again. And now I have to deal with this problem that I have, the darkness within me, or even more innocent people will die becasue of me." Ferlan sighed again, then stood and began gathering the witches' bodies to prepare a funeral for them.

Elianora helped Ferlan pile the bodies, working silently. When all the bodies were piled together, Elianora made a pit around them (ooc: think Brom's death). Then, also using magic, she turned the bodies to ash and closed the pit around it.
Then she took Ferlan's hand. "Let's go back up now," she said softly.

Ferlan nodded and put his arm around her. They walked back to the house silently. Once they were inside, Ferlan decided to lighten up the mood a bit. "So, Eli. Where do you want to get married?" he asked.
