Marola smiled at him. "If you want," she said, standing, "though we could just wander through the city for a while. See what's changed, what's still the same..."

Max smiled at Marola. "Why not?" he said, turning and motioning for Marola to follow him,"So, which side of the city should we go through first? "There's always the middle-class section, which we spent a lot of time in. Or, maybe we could go through the rich parts first. Doesn't matter to me."

Marola smiled and started walking. "Oh, I always thought dark alleys were fun. You never know what'll pop out and try to scare you there."

Max laughed. "Good point!" he said, grinning and offering Marola his arm,"Well, then, shall we be off?"

Marola laughed with Max. "We shall," she said, taking his arm. They ambled through the city for a while, and a flood of memories came to her. She was so happy when she was young. How the years had changed her. When they came up to a certain street, she paused, feeling a wave of pain in her. She glanced at Max. "This is where I watched Daddy die," she said quietly.

Max pursed his lips, looking over at Marola. She had a look of sadness in her eyes that he hated to see. He pulled his arm from her and wrapped it around her, hugging her, and giving her a kiss on the cheek. "It must've been hard for you, Rolie," he said to her quietly,"I'm sorry you had to see that. No little girl should ever have to see that. Especially not one as sweet as you were. "Just don't let the memories control you, ok? Try your best to forget about it."

Marola shook her head sadly. "I promised him I would avenge him. For years it was the one thing that drove me. If I had nothing else to do, I probably would have killed myself." She shook her head. Not that I haven't already tried, she thought sadly.

"Well, I'm glad you didn't," Max said to her quietly, still holding her,"Because if you hadn't, we might not have found each other again."

Marola smiled and nodded, turning away from the street. This was the very reason she had refused to come to Gil'ead for so long, unless she was ordered to. She sighed. "I miss him," she said quietly.

"I know you do," Max said, hugging Marola as they walked,"I can sympathize with you, Marola. It's hard when you lose your parents." He gave her a light kiss on the cheek and stepped away, smiling at her,"So...why don't we go get some of that food, huh? I could use something to eat right about now."

Marola nodded and grinned at his attempt to get her mind off it. "Very well, as long as it isn't some fancy rich place," she said with a laugh, "I never could stand going to places like those. A simple inn with good food would do me."

Max nodded his head. "Works for me," he said, laughing,"So...how about the Prancing Pony? That place was always good when we still lived here. Wanna go there and see if it's still how it was?"

"Sounds good to me," she said, walking down the road. She grimaced. "Though there's probably a new owner who doesn't make food half as well as it was back in the day." She laughed.

"Ah, but maybe he passed on his recipes," Max said,"I'm sure he wouldn't want his inn's reputation to go down, would he?" He grinned over at Marola as they walked on in the direction of the inn. It took them a total of five minutes to reach before they walked through the doors and found a seat at one of the tables. "So, lets see whats on the menu," he said, grinning.

OOC: I never woulda thought inns in Alagaesia would have menus, especially since the vast majority of its inhabitants can't read. lol.
Marola sat down gracefully in her seat, gazing through the crowd. She didn't recognize anyone, but that didn't mean there wasn't someone she knew there. "What sounds good to you?" she asked.
