Mar was shocked by Kalri's action, not know what to do. He could sense the truth in her words, though he was still unsure of what to do. "Thank you," he told her, a smile coming to his lips. "You asked me, and didn't take it from me, so I let you see it. I've never shown another that memory, and I trust you will never reveal it to another, not even your father. Swear it to me? In the Ancient Language?" Mar looked deeply into her eyes, looking for something other than hate.

Kalri had never sworn anything to anyone in the ancient language, not even her father! As she looked into Mar's eyes she softened, he had willingly shared something of him with her. No one had willingly shared any memories with her, of course, she had never asked. Thinking for a moment, she swore to him that she would guard his secret and reveal it to none, not even her father.

Mar visibly relaxed as she swore to him in the ancient language. "Thank you," he said. "I know it is a hard thing to do, trust me on that. I greatly appreciate it, and I will never force you to do anything from that oath, I swear." Mar finished with the meat, giving Kalri a piece of thight. "This part is a little tough, but extremely juicy."

Kalri hungrily took the meat, ripping at it with her teeth. Stopping she lowered her eyes for a second then looked back at him. "Thank you." She resumed eating the deer, looking out over the night sky. "Do you think we should track the Rider? Seems a shame to be out here with Varden worms so close and not go hunting. What do you say my friend? Wanta hunt?"

Mar thought for a moment, slowly eating his deer, savoring the rich flavor. "Why not? We have nothing better to do," he said with a smile. "And I'm sure your father wouldn't mind."

Kalri smiled. "Let's get on the trail at first light." She liked being out on the prowl with Mar. He was very skilled and knowledgable about many things.

Mar agreed, contentedly eating his portion of the deer. Laying on the ground, his face to the stars, Mar let sleep take him. He dreamed of many things, mostly violent and full of lose, but one, just one, he wanted to remember. Of all the dreams he had, only one had he ever truly wished to remember.
Sitting in a clearing, Mar talked to the trees, laughing at their stories. Most people thought trees just grew, having a very simple understanding, but Mar knew they were capable of more. They knew the history of what happened around them, could feel the changes in the earth, wars brewing and ending. He sat cross-legged, talking with them. A woman came to sit beside him, her blond hair and blue eyes shining. Mar smiled at her, then continued his conversation. Late in the evening, Mar stood, helping the woman up, and walked with her through the forest.
It was not the most entertaining dream, nor the most beautiful, but it was peaceful. Mar never had much peace, being surrounded constantly by violence and bloodshed. He was an assassin, that he knew, but he avoided death like child with school. He knew he had to do it, but he took little if no pleasure from it.

Kalri watched as Mar slept. He was a strange man. She had spent many nights trying to figure him out. He seemed to take no pleasure in killing, yet he did it. She did it but found great pleasure in it. As she lay, watching the moon in the sky, the darkness within her churned, wrapping itself so far around her soul that no light could possibly shine through, save the smallest portion that Mar's memory had touched. It shone faintly, barely visible as the darkness tried to smother it.

Mar woke slowly in the morning, before the sun began to rise. A blueish light was spread across the land, giving it an eerie feel. He stood, buckling his swords across his back and pulling his cloak tight around him against the fading cold. He walked to the edge of the tree, inspecting the area. A small track of human footprints circled through the trees. 'We were watched,' he thought with anger.

Kalri slept with a smile on her face. She dreamed of playing in the dungeons in the castle. She would often steal down to them to play with the prisoners. She never told her father but suspected that he probably knew. He knew everything that happened within the castle walls. She dreamt of a particularly fun night, when she was practicing a new trick her father had taught her. Letting the magic snake forth, twisting in long tendrils, she would send it through the bars. Wrapping around the man's neck, she squeezed just until his eyes rolled back into his head then she pulled it back a little. When he seemed to recover some, she would squeeze again. Laughing delightedly. She had done it without killing her victim. The dream faded quickly as she felt Mar's anger. Rising quickly, sword drawn, she looked to him. "What is it?" She looked around, reaching out with her mind she felt the presence that had watched them during the night. "Or better yet who is it?"

Caleb had spied out the Emipire's Riders camp after leaveing Neresa. He noticed that the guys had woken up, and he had to run fast.

Mar drew his double swords, scanning the area for whoever it was that had watched them. He found the presence, but it was clouded, hidden. He ran out in dash after the target, faster than normal eyes can see. He didn't even tell Kalri what was wrong, only flew after the person. Throwing his sword in his left hand, it caught the woman on her cloak, tacking her against a tree. Pulling his other sword, up, he placed it at her throat. "Who are you?!?!" he said loudly, rage filling his voice. "Why are you here? Why were you watching us? Speak or you die now!" The woman did not shake, did not even flinch. "Why should I tell you anything?" she said calmly. "You'll just kill me anyways." Mar smiled, letting the blade prick at her neck, bringing small tendrils of blood from her throat. "Cause I can make it easier, less painful." Mar let his words sink in. 'Kalri, come here, but be calm,' he said using his mind. 'We have an...interrogation.'

Kalri sheathed her sword. Smiling she walked slowly to Mar. Seeing the woman her smile widened. "Playtime!" She held out her hand pinning the woman to the tree with the black magic writhing around her as she eyed the woman carefully. "Now my darling. Have you ever played with the daughter of a King? Answer the man's questions and you just may live long enough to see the light of another day." She looked to Mar. 'Who is this woman?' she sent to him careful to keep up her wards around her own mind in case others were about.

Mar heard Kalri's words, though he did not respond right away. 'I'm not sure,' he told her. 'We must find out.' "Now, woman, you will answer my questions." Mar stood close to her, his breath in her face. He may not like killing, but he thoroughly enjoyed ripping information from people.

Kalri was fascinated watching Mar. She continued to hold the woman to the tree with her magic as she smiled. Her eyes alight, she focused all of her attention on Mar.
