Mar took hold of the woman's cloak, pulling his sword from the tree. Sheathing his swords, he took the woman's. "Now, will we have to make this messy?" he asked. The woman looked at him, fire shown in her eyes. 'Perfect,' he thought. 'She is angry.' He smiled at her. Using magic, he restricted her breath, making more difficult for her to breath. He hit her in the stomach, not letting any air enter her longs. He held her there, letting her eyes slowly roll back. Releasing the magic, she took a breath and Mar brought her closer back to life. "Do not think I will let you go that easily," he said, stabbing her sword into the tree beside her throat.

Kalri delighted watching as Mar talked to the woman. She could feel the familiar excitment rising within her. He elicited the same feelings in her as she felt when she interrogated prisoners. It was exhilirating!

The woman winced in pain as the air came rushing back into her lungs. "My name is Neesha. I work for Nashante." The woman said no more. Mar nodded to Kalri. "You have two choices, Kalri. Kill her now, or find out more...forcibly."

Kalri reached out to Neesha, touching the words in her mind for truth. She used just enough force to pull the truth from her without hurting her too badly. "Why do you spy on us. What business has my mother with me?" She looked to Mar and eyed him suspiciously, then looking back to the witch her eyes narrowed. She released the magic binding her to the tree. "Princess Kalri." the witch lowered her head respectfully to her. 'I really hate when they do that! Do I look like a princess to you?' She sent the words to Mar but kept up appearances to the witch. Kalri slightly inclined her head to the witch and again, becoming a little impatient, asked, "Why has mother sent you. What is your business and why do you spy on us?"

Caleb watched the interagation, glad that it wasn't him that they captured. He hadn't noticed the woman in the night, so she must've been there early that morning. Caleb stood in the crook of the tree to watch. She was Emipire, so Caleb didn't care what happened to her, he may actually get some useful information for Nasuada out this.

Mar put up his hand, stopping the woman from answering Kalri's question. Instead, he spoke to her mind, feeling unsure of his voice. 'Answer us using your mind, Neesha. It is imperative that you answer truthfully. Why has Nashante sent you to watch us?' The woman looked around, not sure what to do. 'She said there was someone who wielded two swords that must be watched, and if needed exterminated. She told me I'd find you around here, so I came. That is all, I swear. I know nothing else.' The woman spoke with her mind, both to Mar and Kalri.

Kalri reached out to Mar's mind, shielded from Neesha. "Why would Mother want you watched? She is up to something. Should we let her go?" Kalri watched him and Neesah intently. No hint shown on her face that she was talking with Mar. Her eyes narrowed as she thought about the witches words.

Mar pulled the woman's sword from the tree, putting it back in her sheath. With a wave of his hand, he let the woman go. "There is no need to kill her. She will return to Nashante. She will know that I am aware she watches me. As for why..." Mar trailed off in thought, letting his words and the woman running sink in with Kalri.

Kalri watched as Neesha ran back to report to Nashante. Looking at Mar she pondered his words. Nashante was not in Galbatorix's good graces at the moment. This delighted Kalri but it meant her mother would be meddling in her affairs more without Galbatorix to occupy her time.

Mar walked quietly back to camp, packing up his equipment. "We need to leave. I'm afraid you're tracking will have to wait for the time being."

Kalri also packed her things. Her thoughts returning to why Nashante, her mother, would be having Mar watched. It wasn't any secret Kalri held no love for her mother but it was unlike Nashante to interfere in Galbatorix's business.

Mar was finished packing within minutes, adjusting the straps on his pack and securing the pots and pans. "Ready when you are, Kalri," he said.

Kalri looked to Mar. "I am ready but tell me something. What do you make of what Neesha said. Why would mother be watching you?" She was having a hard time understanding Nashante's motives.

Mar stopped moving, looking up into the sky. Letting out a breath he looked at Kalri. "Well, I can only think of one reason," he said, unsure of how to say what was needed. "I had taken her from the coven sanctuary once, and brought her to the king, before you were born...about nine months before actually." He let his words sink in, the reality of the situation.

Kalri looked at him with widened eyes. The image made her run to a tree as she wretched behind it. Wiping her mouth, she looked at him. She knew of Galbatorix's...indulgences... with Nashante but the thought sickened her. She looked at Mar with disdain for the vision in her head. "Thanks for that." Rolling her eyes she asked, "But why would she need to know where you were?" Kalri still didn't understand. For being so bright, she was a little slow sometimes.
