As Eridor climbed ever higher, Elaine began to shudder, her breath came shorter. She could no longer see the empire dragon ahead. Releasing her mind barriers, Elaine shouted to Eridor. Abondon this chase! They have gotten away, Eridor. If you fly any higher we will die. Eridor seemed not to hear, so Elaine added more forcefully, I will die. That seemed to catch his attention, and soon he was gliding back down, slowly, still angry at having lost the fight. Elaine rested her hands on either side of his neck. Peace, Eridor. You acted honorably and bravely. You have not lost, my heart. Perhaps. Yet that dragon escaped without so much as a scratch. It is unacceptable. Elaine shook her head, knowing she could not get to Eridor in such a mood. When they passed through the cloud cover and could once more see the ground, they both immedately noticed the immense silver dragon. Is that Argentum? Elaine asked, more to herself. She had seen the great silver dragon only once before, and his size still astonished her. Snapping his wings to his side, Eridor dove down to meet the others. When he was nearly to the ground, his gray wings flared open, depositing him with a heavy thud beside Stigandr. He looked at the smaller silver and shook his head. He got away. he told his friend with a snap of his jaws.
Loosening the leg straps of the saddle, Elaine released herself and leapt to the ground, landing in a crouch. Rising, she approached the ancient rider carefully, looking to Einar. In a quiet voice, she asked, "How go things here?"

Relief came to Einar when Eragon and another rider came to help him. The wound in the dragon was far more extreme than he had thought and was sapping most of his energy. With Stigandr's help, he was able to do what he could. When the Ancient rider stepped forward, Einar reluctantly followed his instructions, but was amazed when the Rider healed the dragon with ease. Gasping for breath, he leaned against Stigandr's nose just as Elaine and Eridor came. Stigandr let out a low rumble. He will not escape the next time... Stigandr promised. "I think everything will be fine. He," He nodded at the Ancient, "was able to heal him...however, the dragon has not awakened yet." Einar informed Elaine in the same quiet voice.

Eragon realeased the flow of magic and moaned. It had taken a great toll on him. He could hear Glader's voice. A noble act. Noble, but foolish. Foolish?! Foolish to waste so much energy. To use more than was needed. Sorry master. Glader sighed and withdrew. Eragon looked at the woman beside him. "Vanadoth! Your back from the empire?" "Yes." Vanadoth was barely breathing heavily. "I found out much. I must tell lady Nasuada."

Khaos was watching the group with interest for a few moments and then turned and jumped the full height to land on Argentum's back.
"I must go for now. This dragon will wake soon enough but needs to rest now. I recommend that you do not move him and let him sleep until he wakes up. I will pursue the man that did this and when I find him I will capture him."
Khaos and Argentum took off and headed upward with amazing speed. Khaos used the same spell that Balthazar had used and continues, only taking a few seconds to get above the clouds and turn toward the empire. A few moments later Balthazar and Silva were in his sight. He lifted his hand and a bolt of energy wrapped itself around the both Balthazar and Silva. They were linked to him and Khaos turned around, heading back to where the others were. When he fell bellow the clouds again he used his magic to put the rider and dragon to sleep and landed shortly after.
"Do not attack him. His is bound and dazed by magic. When the dragon wakes up and his rider is ready they will have a little rematch...and this time I have a feeling will go differently. Until then no others are to harm these two for it is not their place. Am I understood."
Khaos felt the he was being much more forceful then usual but needed to get his point across. This rider had almost killed another dragon and he knew the pain that would have cause both riders. To kill a dragon was a terrible thing, almost as bad as losing yours, and this was a personal thing between these two riders. No others were going to harm them and it would be a fair fight, Khaos would see to that.

Max had carried Marola far from the fight by this time, Teinaava having left the other dragons to fight in mid-air to stay with his Rider. Max, however, wasn't even paying attention to Teinaava at the moment. He was too busy hlding Marola close to him and checking to make sure she was okay. "Don't scare me like that again," he said, half laughing as he held her close to him,"I thought that.....well....I thought I might've lost you when you fell off of Rauthr back there.....I was so afraid you'd been hurt. Don't pull another crazy stunt like that again, ok?"

Marola laughed a bit, even though she was still sore all over. "You deserved it after how you made me feel after you left last time." She shook her head, remembering how he had kissed her, then left her suddenly. "I lost a night's sleep over you."

Max pursed his lips and let out a sigh. "Sorry about that, Rolie," he said quietly,"I...I didn't meant to do it...I don't know what I was thinkng....But....I just......getting involved with me will put you in an even more dangerous position with the King....and I don't want that...." He shook his head, laying Marola down on the ground and sitting down cross legged next to her, reaching down and playing with her hair. "I just dont' want anything to happen to you because of me," he said.

Marola shook her head, sitting up on the ground as an amused smile crossed her face. "Oh, trust me, Maxel, I've been in tighter spots than this before. I even had a fling with a Varden Rider once." Her smile turned lopsided for a second at the memory. "Don't know how it would have turned out if it was allowed to continue." She looked into Max's eyes for a second, feeling something for him that she hadn't ever felt before, but she knew she wanted to feel it. "So...now with that established...you wanna try it again?" she asked him with a sly grin.

Max was surprised to hear she had had a 'fling' with a Varden Rider once. BUt, a smile quickly grew on his face, and he reached forward and pulled her close, kissing her. "Well, I think I'm willing to give it another try," he said, smiling at her as he puleld away from her slightly,"But only if you're willing to have me."

Marola gave him a smile and kissed him back. "I'm more than willing," she whispered after pulling away, "If you're willing to try it out with a single mother and an assassin who now has several hundred people hating her." She looked back toward Surda.

Max smiled. "I don't care," He said, bringing a hand up to her cheek and stroking it with his thumb,"I'd love you even if you were.....well, I don't know. But, I'd love you tno matter what!"

Marola smiled back at Max, taking his hand in hers. As small, childish smile crossed her face. "You'll never love me as much as I love you," she told him.
OOC: I find it funny that there's this dragon fight going on, and Maxel and Rolie are having this little love scene off to the side.

Max smiled and laughed, looking back over to the fight, which was a rather long way away. "I think we need to get out of here, Rolie," he said, looking at her,"Can you fly on Rauthr without too much pain?"

Marola smiled and stood, taking a minute to get her footing. "I've had worse," she said. Rauthr, can you get yourself and Zak over here? she asked the dragon. Right away...how are you? Fine...perfect... Marola looked at Max, and everything was all right.

Max nodded at Marola. "All right," he said, walking over to Teinaava and climbing onto his back,"Well....this is where we hav eto part again, Rolie.....I'm sorry, but....you need to be getting back to the Empire, don't you?"
