Feeling the necessity to intervene, Mattheus decided to pull off a bold move by placing himself between the two.
"Now, gentlemen, please! Threats and aggression will resolve nothing! Now, I acknowledge the error of young Gidion's actions against our mysterious friend being carried off. I also acknowledge the opinions of the both of you, as well as your respective indignation. However, fighting will only cause regret and anger. Relax, so that we may converse as gentlemen."
"Now, young master Gidion. How goes your venture upon this world? Is it a pleasant one thus far?"

Altrasky snorted "If he doesn't leave it's about to get a lot worse."

"And how would violence resolve this, master Altrasky? With due respects to you and your companion dragon, please explain this to me. I come from a peaceful world, after all."
Mattheus's expression was one of curiosity, mild annoyance, and the muted expression of fear one often has when speaking to another being who could easily dissolve the situation into a bloody carnage.

Altrasky sighed "It's not that hard really, they want you dead, so they try to kill you."

"I understand and respect the world you live in, master Altrasky. However, words win wars and save lives far more efficiently than any single sword or hammer. If you do not believe me, consider the many scroll-signers our king currently has employed. Having personally seen the bureaucratic side of this war we face against the Varden and her allies, I must say you couldn't possibly comprehend how many issues and orders are signed and passed every day. They save Imperial lives, and maintain Imperial townships quite handily."
Mattheus's expression softened. The young rider was only trying to help, and he respected that. "Often, being in the wrong places at the wrong time turn out to be quite the opposite. There's always a time and place for actions, and while they do not seem correct this time, one day you and I will see the benefits of your intervention. I assure you. Mattheus, Imperial diplomat. You are Gidion; a rider, yes?"

"As I have said before, master Gidion. Mattheus. Now, if you will excuse me, I must see to our unfortunate masked man."
He added a parting statement with a smile. "Perhaps I can teach you all a little lesson on the value of temperance and forgiveness."
